...I totally agree with first reviewer. Worked out of the box. I partitioned the 400 GB into two drives using Partition Magic 8 (which had previously baulked at a 160 GB internal HDD) and am using one for storage of digital images (duplicates to CD/DVD backups). Mine, even after three hours use, did not get hot - rather a nice warm value. It works very quietly and I can fully recommend this make and model as exceptionally good and extremely good value for money. When I think back to the 40 MB disc I used for years (Drivespaced, too) I cannot but think what fantastic value for money this is. As a supplement to my internal 2 X 120 GB HDDs, it will provide an additional capacity for my growing storage of high quality digital images (I am now a retired PRO Photographer and teacher of, says he blushingly, high international reputation)... ...ive had this drive for six months paid about £80 for it whats in the box • Hard Drive (Windows pre-formatted) • Power Adapter • USB cable (USB 2.0 & 1.1) • Freecom Software Media Suite • Manual on CD & Quick Install Guide • Free unlimited helpdesk support • Two years manufacturers warranty Open the box to find a nice well built drive stylish black case with a silver front ,has a illuminated 400gb lamp on the front which is a nice blue it has a power lead and is usb2 it also has a on/off switch on the back.. plug it in to a usb slot and away you go instantly picked up by windows xp and vista no need to install drivers I have taken this drive to other peoples houses and pluged it in to there computer and have had no problems transfering files. this unit runs silent (has no fan) dosnt get hot just has a warm feel to it all in all great... ...I had been after an external drive for a while and looked at all the options online, then PC world had a special deal with the 400GB version for only £85.00, result. First impressions were very good. It's heavy but solid thanks to the aluminum casing. Inside was a PSU, USB lead, quick set up guide and installation disc with some basic back up software included. When connected to the PC, win XP found the device and it shows up as a removable drive. It works under USB 1.1 but transfers data much quicker under USB 2.0 It's pre-formatted so you actually get about 375GB. It has an external switch on the back, so can be switched off when not in use. When switched on a blue light is emitted at the front. It's very quiet as it's fanless, and can be easily tucked away as it's quite small. Overall a great drive for backing up all your important...
