...to use backup solution, but it also features HPs unique "One Button Disaster Recovery" or OBDR. As the name suggests, if you loose you system (disk crash etc) you can recover the whole thing from tape by pressing just one button. How does it work? You simply load the back up tape in to the drive, power off the system, press the eject button on the tape drive and power everything up, this put's the tape drive into it's OBDR mode and the system sees it as a bootable device and boots from the tape, this then triggers the full system recovery... and guess what? It works! much quicker and easier than rebuilding from scratch.

Advantages: fast, spacious and very quiet Disadvantages: none really...
...- Windows does not need drivers, you do get a disc with the drive that contains some Freecom software but I haven't used it yet. Within minutes of installing the drive I was transferring over 300GB of data to it and in use I have found the drive to be almost silent, even when transferring gigabytes of data you can only just about hear the drive running and the transfer rates seem excellent for a USB drive (although I haven't actually checked what the rates actually are). The casing does get a little warm in use but nothing to worry about and not too hot to touch,
All in all I am very pleased that I chose this model and will certainly purchase another one when the need arises, I use this drive every single day and would recommend it without hesitation. I have had several external drives over the years and currently also have a WD MyBook 500Gb...

Advantages: SIze, portability, reliablity Disadvantages: 120gb capacity is average
...I purchased one of these hard drives a good 6 months ago. Still running perfectly and I use it daily. 120gb is big enough to fulfill the needs of the majority of users. Altho larger capacity hard drives are available from freecom.
Maybe the best thing about this hard drive, is its small size and portability, fits in your jeans pocket, can easily take those most important files anywhere you need them.
I personally even use it in conjunction with my DVD player which has USB compatibility, to view my files such as Photos & Videos straight onto my TV.
Another good thing about the hard drive, comes with software that enables you to backup your computer onto the external hard drive.
Overall, certainly worth the money for portablity, reliability and general use....
