Freecom Portable CD-RW drive

Advantages: Hard Working and reliable. Can be moved from PC to PC
Disadvantages: Desk space needed because it's external.

...I've owned my external Freecom CD RW for some time now, and it has given me excellent service, even though I have "hammered" it, burning DVD after DVD of years of stockpiled home video footage. Time after time, I have had great results with just one unsuccessful burn, but that was a faulty disk -which happens sometimes. When I first went in search of a DVD Re-writer, I was very tempted by getting an internal one to save desk-space and they were cheaper. But after some consideration I opted for the external because we have two computers and a laptop and it's just a question of plugging it in to the USB port of any machine I want to work with. Because it also plays DVD movies, it makes it really handy when I am having that long week-end staying at relatives and there's nothing to watch on TV. I can simply plug it into my laptop... ...This CD-RW is really handy for having around if your computer doesnt have an inbuilt CD-RW or yours is broken. The kind of disks it'll write are: Hybrid data disks (Mac and PC compatible) Singular Mac disks Extended Hybrid disks Extended Mac disks Audio Cd's Will copy from another selected drive and enhanced formats such as MP3 disks It can write at fast speeds, up to 42x which is handy if you've invested in some high quality high-speed disks! The write quality is very good, and it can even record on those cheaper disks that some machines dont like to use. As well as copy disks, it also erases CDRW's and using quick erase will do it in seconds. The software (Roxio Toast) is easy to use, and easy to install. On both pc and mac, u can plug the drive into a USB slot and then put in the CD, follow the install wizzard... Read review

Advantages: it is portable and can be taken anywhere
Disadvantages: deosn't burn as fast as the ones in your computer

...The portable disk drive is very for people who own laptops or for people who travel a lot e.g. business people etc... As well as copying CD it and play them so it's a combo drive which is always handy. The size of the drive is not very big it's 13.5 cm x 16 cm x 2.8 cm and it doesn’t weight as much only 0.3 kg and it is an external drive which mean that you don't have to open anything just plug in and install the driver's and away you go it's that easy. The drive also comes with burning software and any necessary cables need to operate the device the speed it read and write at is 8x writing and 24x reading and rewriting speed is 4x which I think is not bad it will only take about 10 to 15 minutes longer than your PC re-writer which is obviously faster so compared to that is it good....
