...FreecomClassic SL 250GB USB2 External Computer HardDrive.
The Freecom250GBClassic SL drive was a bargain when i bought it, even PC World were selling it cheap ! I paid £89.99 when the offer was on at PC World.
The drive has a massive 250GB capacity sat inside a USB case which simply plugs into the USB slot on your computer, because of this, you can take your music and files practically anywhere and can back up your system and keep it unplugged for times when you think you might have a virus ! this is much easier to do than to open up the box and unplug a second "internal" harddrive.

Advantages: it's size Disadvantages: doesn't work that well with older pc's

On the case itself is a blue LED which indicates that the drive is powered up and flickers during data transfers so you know it's in use. As for noise, after you power up the drive you will not even know it's powered up because it's just so quiet. The only noise you do hear is when data is being written or being extracted and even then you can hardly hear it.
One problem I have found...
