Full review
Since having children I have suffered intermittently from facial acne. This is due to a combination of an allergy to cows' milk and hormonal changes.

I changed the milk with a good degree of success (to goats' milk) and fairly recently decided to change my morning cleanser to something that would complement the dietary change. This was particularly after reading about the success rate of this product in a magazine review.

I opted to try Freederm Lotion Antibacterial Facial Cleanser as it purports to help prevent/manage spots and pimples, whilst being pretty mild in comparison to some cleansing treatments for sports and acne. I also prefer to use a cleanser which I have to wash off, in the mornings. I use a different cleanser in the evening which removes makeup.

-What it says on the "tin"-
It advertises itself as being a gentle formulation for all skin types.
It offers "advanced pore cleansing action, leaves skins soft and supple, is non-comedogenic" (won't block pores and cause blackheads) and is "dermatologically tested".
There is a comprehensive set of instructions that come with the lotion, which is itself presented in a box.

-The "tin" itself-
Freederm lotion comes in a handy plastic bottle container with a useful pump dispenser.
There is 100ml of the product in the container.
It has lasted me about 3 months so far and is not quite finished.
Each squeeze on the pump produces about 5 or so ml of the product, which is around a teaspoon's-worth.
It is easy to put in your spongebag and travel with too - no leaks or potential for breakages and it is not too large.

-The lotion-
It is a white liquid with absolutely no smell at all, which actually makes quite a nice change. It has the consistency of double cream, but is not at all greasy.
All you do is dampen your face, squeeze the dispenser down once into the palm of your hand and then gently spread the product over your face and massage it in gently, avoiding your eyes.
The lotion does not lather up, you simply massage it around and then rinse off - either by splashing water onto your face with your hands or using a damp cotton wool pad or facial sponge. I prefer to use my hands as you're guaranteed not to leave a residue and I have fairly sensitive skin.

-Effectiveness-
I have been really quite surprised at how successful it has been.
Three months on and I would normally have had at least three fairly major outbreaks and some nasty visitors along the way - these have been reduced to next to nothing. In fact my skins is a lot less prone to breaking out and if a spot does come along, it is gone within a couple of days and is much less uncomfortable or noticeable.

-Cost-
It is not cheap, but it has certainly lasted well and proved its efficacy. The 100ml bottle cost me £8.95 from Asda Pharmacy.
I have looked on-line and can only find it cheaper if you purchase in bulk - i.e. around £5.99 per bottle or £17 when you buy 3 bottles, but then you have to account for the post and packing on top.

-In summary-
I am definitely going to purchase this again, but I am going to wait another 3 months and use another cleansing product in the morning to see whether the old problems come back, just to be sure that the product really does work as effectively as I believe - call me a cynic!

-Update-
September and I'm back on the lotion! It took less than 3 weeks for spots to start coming back. I persevered for several weeks and just couldn't bear it so started using it again. I forgot to take it with me on a 10 day holiday and spots started up again. 3 days after resuming the treatment on my return from holiday the spots started going away. I don't think this is a coincidence and am truly a convert. I can truly recommend this lotion - it has changed my life.

Thanks for reading my review - I hope it was useful.
