Advantages: Can clear up spots in days, doesn't dry the skin out like some similar products. Disadvantages: Could have a bad reaction, loses it's potency, quite expensive for the amount you recieve.

Heading into my late teens I began to notice the terrible acne I had in my younger years gradually start to improve which was an immense relief - the only problem left however, was the kind of random, giant spot that turns up overnight anywhere on your face and then asks it's friends to join it the following day!
I could never find a way to battle these kinds of spots which would inevitably leave marks behind, and after trying nearly every "on the spot" product on the market and on the brink of giving up, Freederm appeared on the scene like music to my ears!
No more applying lotions that would dry a spot into a giant scab you would need to cook up a miracle to hide, this product promised a "new approach to acne treatment" so on a particularly bad day my mum went out to buy some on my behalf and back she came 20 minutes later with my purse £8.95 lighter - but hey, if it works money is no object(-ish)!
Description: A standard 25g squeezable white tube. Contains a gel that is fragrance-free, you can smell a whiff of alcohol (ethanol) in it but it's not at all unpleasant. Claims:
New approach to acne treatment
Clinically active vitamin B complex
Effectively reduces inflammation
Clinically proven
To use: Twice daily cleanse the affected area and surrounding skin thoroughly with soap and warm water. Gently dry and apply a thin film of Freederm to cover this area.My Experience: I honestly believe that much of the effectiveness of this product relies on how it is applied, as in the beginning I was so used to other similar products that I simply "dotted" it on the spot, found it had no effect and abandoned it. Sometime later I gave it another try, this time following the directions to the letter and began applying a thin layer on the area the spots were located. In the following days I discovered it had near miraculous results, shrinking spots to nothing sometimes overnight!
Freederm doesn't sting, and dries in about 10 minutes on average - so you might have to lie on your back for a short while and catch some T.V! The after-effects are minimal, I didn't notice any significant redness although you normally see a small "patch" (for want of a better word!) which looks a bit shiny, which I expect is due to the product doing it's work, but it's not noticeable in any way.
After a about a week, I thought it was so good I began using it frequently, even on spots I wouldn't usually bother with, although I did notice over time it began working less successfully.
Then came the tragedy...that summer was scorching hot and one day after using it I spent a whole afternoon outside in the sun. I returned home to discover a rash - nothing too severe at first but over the hours it progressed into something absolutely awful. At first I thought it was a coincidence but after visiting a doctor and throwing out most of my other beauty products I found out Freederm had given me photosensitivity. I decided to wait until summer was over to start using it again, but despite a lack of sunshine, the same rash crept up on my face again and again and again - albeit in lesser degrees but sadly too noticeable for me to continue using it.
Conclusion: A very good product which can work extremely well on some people, but I'd recommend you stay away from Freederm if you have sensitive skin, or at least perform a sensitivity test before-hand - if not spots could be the last of your worries!

How I found out about these
* * * * * * * * * *
I originally found out about freederm on a television advert. I've always been wary about skin care adverts, as the models always tend to have good skin anyway, so you can never quite tell how effective a product will actually be. Then, I saw them advertised in ...

...try it, I bought the Freederm gel in the 25g tube.
The product:
The product is basically a spot treatment gel. It is an anti-inflammatory treatment for mild to moderate acne. Now, I don't have acne but when all else fails I thought I'd give it ago and some friends I know had also reccomended it to me just as there normal 'spot cream'
The range:
Freederm has a smallish size range of products which just about covers the bare essentials. They have ... ...covers it!
The price:
Freederm costs around £7.50-£9 per 25 gram tube depending on where you buy it. I find this quite expensive for a spot treatment cream personally as I normally only spend between £3-£5 n spot treatment, but figuring that none of those worked for me so I decided to try one. You might be able to find cheaper if you look on Ebay and Amazon etc, but don't forget you still have to p&p which adds to your total.
Avaliability:

Advantages: It does dry out the actual spot... Disadvantages: ...but dried the rest of my skin along with it!
...saw a TV advert for Freederm and was intrigued because the gel contains a unique active ingredient called nicotinamide. This is supposed to have been clinically proven to help get rid of inflamed spots (the ones that are reddish-coloured, usually tender, and sometimes have pus in them). Its available over the counter only and is quite pricy at just under £8 for 25g - those two factors convinced me it must be different and therefore must work! But ... ...and people seemed to have good stuff to say about it, so I decided to go for it - after all, it had to be better than toothpaste (a so called top tip for getting rid of spots...hmmmm!) ** How it works ** It works in a different way to other spot treatments you can buy, because it penetrates the skin and treats the sebaceous glands, basically meaning it targets the process that causes the spots in the first place. It claims not only to target visible ...

Advantages: It does clear spots, makes the skin condition better, non-staining, non-sticky Disadvantages: The price, Works mainly on red, inflammed spots.
I started using Freederm gel about 2 months ago, I basically figured, give it a go, after all, I'm 23 and still getting quite a lot of spots!
It cost £8.75, which is a lot of money, but you do get a lot for your money. Only a thin layer is needed over the affected areas, so the tube of 25g really does last for a long time.
I noticed an improvement straight away, the red spots looked smaller and less sore. The product claims to be "a treatment for ... ...is where they stick to their promises because it does seem to have an anti-inflammatory effect on the sore, red spots very quickly. But better than that, my whole face seemed much clearer and fresher looking. I noticed at Boots that the label called it "treatment for acne and acne scars". It was the treatment of the scars, which interested me originally. I have to say that at first the gel did seem to be helping with some of the scars, although thinking ...
