Freedom to Surf

Advantages: Freedom to Surf
Disadvantages: BT

I subscribed to freedom to serve for 1 year. I chose this company because you have the option of not being tied down for 12 months. I also wanted to avoid BT. They are one of the worst companies I have ever been involved with. They treat both their customers and employees without any respect. I would avoid BT at all costs.

As this was my first broad band connection my installation took 10 days to set up which was their guarantee. I ...

Cost effective solution for fast internet

Advantages: Reliable, quick and stable service
Disadvantages: Little bandwidth limit, long waiting times for tech support

As a customer of Freedom to Surf (F2S) for a number of months, I have felt the need to write a review Previously I was with BT business broadband whom I received excellent service with no problems whatsoever. I chose F2S since they were the cheapest Internet Service Provider (ISP) that provided residential 8Mb broadband at £23.99 with a 50Gb allowance. The main incentive to joining was the fast that I was not tied down to a 12 month contract and ...
...In addition to this, if I stayed with them for at least 3 months, they waive the £49.99 activation fee (which normally I would have had to pay since this house has never had broadband before). The monthly allowance is renewed at the first of the month, regardless of when you joined them. During the hours of 1am till 6 am, you have an unrestricted allowance and can download as much as you want and does not add to your monthly allowance. The cost ...

Dont bother with it

Advantages: Free 0800
Disadvantages: Never gonna launch

I signed up for this service November of last year. They were offering 0800 totally free of charge. They also said on their site that they were launching this year (1999). They then sent me an email saying they were worried about the overload of people using the service so they wouldn’t be launching until February 2000. I thought this was getting stupid. I waited until February, but no email, visited their site but there is no information on it and ...

Fast Access with Webspace and Unlimited Email

Advantages: quick, easy, lots of features, cheap
Disadvantages: no content, not flashy

I've been using Freedom to Surf for about a year now with no problems at all. Always found the access to be very quick and for some reason it seems to take less time to log on than lots of the other ISPs that I've used in the past. Reading through some of the opinions I find it hard to believe that it's the same ISP. I get the distinct feeling people are confusing Freedom to Surf with Freeserve. They're very different, see: http://www.freedom2surf.net/info/anytime.php?data=12108 ...
...but it's refreshing to find an ISP that concentrates more on access than on marketing hype and content that I'm not interested in. The webspace they offer is great as well, you get database access, scripting included. If you buy a domain name you can have as many sub-domains as you like. You can also have unlimited email addresses. The tools are basic, but easy to understand and everything seems to work well. They've just introduced an Anytime ...

Quick review of Freedom to Surf

Freedom to Surf are ace - the customer service is brilliant. The call centre is even in Britain. When you call them you get staff that actually try to understand the problem, are sympathetic and look to find a solution. They do not immeditely blame the customer like so many other companies. If your service is cut off for non payment they do not act like numpties by trying to hit you with charges or nonsense - instead they reconnect you one hour after payment. After a number of years of stress with Bulldog F2S are an absolute delight to deal with. ...

nOT ONE TO RECOMMEND

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: everything

Freedom to surf.com was advertised on the television, I was without an ISP for my computer so I decided to give this company a try. It didn’t cost that much, but you had to pay a for a year and in return you get free internet access, great I thought but after a month I knew I had made a bad decision. I packed it all in after six months, why you may ask?. Because it was unbelievably slow, so slow that I lost my temper and give it all up. And ...
...guess if you will dial up first time, on some nights which were rare, it would happen, I decided it must have been a learning experience and something that I could warn other’s about, it sounds great but it isn’t. There are better ISP’s out there than this. I did stay with them for six months only because I felt since I had paid upfront then to give it a go, so I was not entitled to a refund nor did I expect one, but I’m just ...
