Great service for website builders 2 of 4 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages get a free website name, good dialup service

Disadvantages no free call access

A friend of mine told me about this ISP and within a week I had dug in and designed my own website on the internet and I know nothing about web publishing.

The ISP itself has decent connection speeds and 0845 local call charge access with no subscription. It is a good quality 'free' ISP in the respect of free but with local call charges.

If your site makes it big and you want to sell it and the name, you will have to pay them around £100 to cover their admin costs. That's fair enough because their is no risk or cost to you to get your website up and running.

The only disadvantage I have found is that you have to use their dial-up account to access your freenetname e-mail which is a disadvantage for the service and yet a small price to pay.

Overall here we have a solid ISP with a very good website service so if your interested in building and designing your own site, give them a go.

If you have no intention of buying the name then the name is 'free' but it's not registered in your name, it's registered in theirs you are only borrowing it. If you want to purchase it later, as you say' it's much more expensive. The market going rate for a .co.uk name for 2 years is only £7.50, (or about 20-30 pounds with email and web forwarding features) so might as well buy your own if you have intentions of owning it.
