I was very skeptical about Freeview, always preferring Sky or cable, drawn to them by channels like E4 and Sky One. I recently moved house, and they had cable, so naturally, we decided to keep it going, until we found out about the 18 quid a month for essentially 2 channels that we would be interested in. We couldn't get channel 5, so decided to investigate Freeview. Don't be put off by the "if you can't get channel 5, then you can't get freeview" opinion, ours works perfectly, and we couldn't get channel 5 either. We have had Freeview for 2 weeks, and I would say it is very good for people who would like digital telly, but are a bit strapped for cash. Channels such as BBC 3 and ITV 2 are good for entertainment, there are a couple of music channels, CBBC and CBEEBEIES for the kids, and even a shopping channel! The great thing is, I get channel 5 as well, and get my CSI fix! I am fairly sure that more channels will come in the future, and I like the fact that there's not a big ugly dish strapped to the side of my house, and my bank balance is 18 quid better off. Sure, I don't see the new series of my favourite shows, but I can wait, and enjoy the tv channels I have, then watch it all on channel 4 - the suspense makes it all the better! (I can't wait for six feet under!!) Anyway, very impressed, I would highly recommend it.

Freeview is good. Unfortunately I have been talked into getting Sky by my other half. I do hate the way they have monpolised everything. Maybe someday someone will be brave enough to set up some real competition. See ya. Sandra.
Advantages: Digital channels for free (except the box price), good range of channels Disadvantages: Needs more channels to remain good competition with satellite providers
