As I've hit my forties I have, like most women of a certain age, noticed the odd little line and faint wrinkle here and there. As time has gone by, I have noticed a few more appear, particularly around the corners of my eyes and across my brow. I moan to my husband every now and again that I'm looking old and wish I could afford to have Botox, but the truth be known, I'm actually terrified of needles and the very thought of having a poison injected under my skin to eradicate the odd wrinkle literally makes me feel ill - I'd rather live with the lines, thank you very much!
My dear friend is planning her (second) wedding this summer and I really want to look my best for the occasion. I have been trying to lose weight now for a couple of months and have successfully managed to lose just over a stone of flab, my outfit is ready and waiting for the 'big day', but I decided that I must do something to make me look that little bit more glam!
Trawling the Internet a couple of weeks ago, looking at various anti wrinkle creams, I came across a product called Freeze 24/7 Anti Wrinkle Cream. They have their own website at www.freeze247.com but they are based in the USA and I decided that if I was going to go for it, that it would probably be too time consuming (and expensive, what with shipping costs, etc) and looked for a supplier based in the UK.
I came across www.spaceNK.co.uk who sell this little wonder product at the grand old price of £68 for a 30g pot! Their write up is pretty impressive and they claim that the product successfully eradicates up to 99% of all
facial lines upon application and that results last an impressive twenty-four hours (although I would personally liked for it to have been a little longer at that price). It works by relaxing the muscles around the wrinkles and thereby making them look smoother and less defined.
The blurb states it is a natural alternative to Botox and a fraction of the cost! It is meant to be used under make up and specifically designed for 'problem areas' such as crow's feet, forehead and the lip area. Most of the reviews I read were pretty impressive, along with the little 'how to apply for best results' video on the website. I'm always a sucker for the hype and genuinely believe that every anti-wrinkle cream I fork out good money for is going to be the one miracle cream that will give me back my youthful complexion - I never learn!
I clicked on all the right places, typed in my credit card details and waited patiently over the next few days for my wonder cream to arrive. I was pretty impressed with the speedy service - only three days to wait and my cream had arrived! I was pleased with the lovely packaging. It came in a delightful-looking red box and inside was my (rather tiny) green Perspex jar of Freeze 24/7.
I removed the lid and inside was another little plastic top to protect the cream. I removed this too and gave the contents a bit of a sniff. It smelled fresh and lemony with a hint of peach - not too overpowering. I dipped in my finger and could see that it was quite a thick consistency and not at all runny. I carefully read the instruction leaflet and was advised that my face needed to be clean and dry before the initial application, in order to obtain the very best results.
Off I trotted to the bathroom and washed and dried my face as instructed. At times like this, when trying out a new cream or make up for the first time, especially one which claims to make me look 'more beautiful' or youthful', I get butterflies in my tummy beforehand as I eagerly await the 'transformation', yet somewhere in the back of my mind I always have that niggling little thought that I've wasted yet more of my money on something which won't make one jot of difference to the way I look.
I carefully applied the cream first around my eye area and then on my forehead. About twenty seconds after the initial application I could detect a slight cooling sensation, almost as though someone had placed cold water on the part of my skin where the cream had been applied. This weird sensation lasted for approximately three or maybe four minutes and then gradually faded. Then something truly amazing happened - the fine lines on my forehead simply faded away - not completely, but there was a definite improvement. The instructions state that for deeper wrinkles a further application may be needed. I dipped my finger back in the jar and applied a little more cream. Once again I experienced that strange cooling sensation and then a few minutes later when I took another look, the wrinkles had literally faded into oblivion.
Looking at my eyes I smiled at myself in the mirror and could see that my little laughter lines had also diminished. I was truly amazed. I rushed downstairs and proudly showed my husband and daughter the results! My husband took a close look, put on his glasses then stood a little closer to me to inspect my face. I told him to look at my forehead and asked him if he could see the difference I could plainly see! He muttered, "Oh, yes, very good. How much did you say you paid again?" I shook my head in exasperation, as he clearly couldn't see the massive difference and the new youthful forehead and wrinkle-free eyes I was sporting. My daughter said she could definitely see the difference and said that when gets to my age she'll be using some too!
I have used this lovely cream now almost every day since I bought it and I can honestly say that a little goes a very long way. I have hardly made any difference to the amount of product in the jar, despite my daily use. I believe it was money very well spent. Unfortunately, the results do not last longer than the twenty-four hours specified o the jar. It is not a product that will magically eradicate your wrinkles long-term, but rather a product which is meant to be used as a short-term measure, or for special occasions.
I am so amazed by the results and have become so accustomed to having a line-free forehead and diminished laughter lines that I feel better if I use it on a daily basis. Friends and colleagues have also noticed a difference to my complexion and have remarked at how well I am looking these days. It I expensive, but I thoroughly believe it is money well spent, it works and is definitely better than the risks associated with the dreaded Botox!!
