It's Freezing In Our Garage
Advantages: lots of space, childlock, reasonable price Disadvantages: not the most energy efficient model around
...near empty. Whirlpool is a well known brand that has been around since the 1950's although it was known as the Nineteen Hundred Company before that in America. Whirlpool then merged with the Phillips Company in 1989 before becoming it's sole owner in 1991 and it is only really been since then that the Whirlpool range has become common knowledge in the UK as well as being the world's leading manufacturer of home appliances such as refrigerators, washing ... ...considerably more expensive with a Whirlpool 8.1 cubic feet one costing around £190. This doesn't seem to bad until you look at the difference in space inside.
One other feature that you may not think of when buying is a lockable lid. This isn't so much for security, although of course this does help in an outbuilding, but for safety of young children who may decide to reach inside and fall in or think it's a great place to hide if playing hide ...

Beware Substandard Items
Advantages: Good Size Disadvantages: Poor Quality Control
We bought this freezer for Iceland and thought it was a bargain. When delivered, the lid was misaligned and the seals were ineffective. This was not caued by the delivery men and looking at the protective packing, was not damaged during the delivery from the manufactrurer. After a coulpe of calls, we had the replacement delivered three days later and it looked OK. When opened up there were missing parts, a basket an paperwork, so we took the ones ... ...noticed that the freezer interior was icing up in one corner at the tpo near the seal. Further inspection showed that the lid was not sealing correctly in that corner.
The lid is adjustable by indiong a couple of screws at the rear and we managed to rectify the seal problem.
Since then it has been operating perfectly. Great size and a great price.
We would recommend anyone receiving one of these models to check it out thoroughly as we believe ...

freezer
Advantages: spacious, convenient, has storage sections Disadvantages: none
I think this freezer is great, we already have a freezer in the house but need extra storage with 6 members in the family, we have put our freezer in the garage where it fits nicely (it is not too bulky) but then again can contain a lot of food!! We have had this freezer for just over a year now and have had no problems whatsoever. I had been told that many freestanding chest freezers were a problem when closing the lid, however this freezer hasnt ...

Seems pretty much OK - used it for nearly 2 months
Advantages: good value because of A-rated energy efficiency Disadvantages: capacity reduced because of A-rated energy efficiency
Like all chest freezers, the Whirlpool WCS8.0 is not aesthetically pleasing. If like me, you plan to keep it out of sight (in garage) this is not a major consideration. If however, you plan to have it in your kitchen, then maybe this type of freezer is not for you!
That said, I chose the Whirlpool model because it was rated A for energy efficiency. Partly as I feel I should be envonmentally aware, and partly as it would be kinder to my electricity ... ...off the £229.99 price by having my old freezer disabled (ie mains lead amputated).
So, it cost me £129.99 (plus delivery charge of £16.95 which Comet later refunded when I complained about their poor level of service).
The freezer is basically like all others from the outside (a large white chest), but it does have "rounded" corners, making it slightly less box-like than some other models. The lid is lockable (one key suppled). It has an easy to ...

My very first freezer - and it's a good one
Advantages: Easy to set up, ideal size, good performance Disadvantages: Short cable
Earlier this year I moved into a new flat, which had other white goods but no freezer. At first I thought it was fine, I could use the ice box in the fridge for things like chips, veggie mince and the odd ice lolly - I've lived without a freezer before and thought I could do it again. Wrong. Having had a freezer for the last two and a half years, my shopping and cooking habits have changed. And the ice box was useless. So I decided to invest in a ... ...limited - there is nowhere in the kitchen, and although I have a small utility area, it has the washing machine in it and needs to be clear to access the bathroom. It occurred to me though that a small tabletop freezer could sit in the middle of this space without getting in the way. I made some measurements, and starting looking online for what I needed. As my parents happened to be visiting soon with their car, I decided that rather than mess about ...
