Advantages: large capacity, silent running, A rated, relaible temp gauge, even freezing, easy to wipe clean
Disadvantages: none really unless you dont have space for one

...I knew I wanted a Hotpoint or Whirlpool, having experienced the very best of customer service previously when needing a repair from these two companies, not to mention the low cost of out of warranty repair by an engineer. Scouting about, I found this model seemed to fit all my requirements, and the price was quite reasonable as well, being under £500. So, a year on, how have I found this? Hotpoint FZ175 is a great freezer with 1 great flaw...

Advantages: Works very well and no frost build up at all
Disadvantages: Poor drawer front design

Fabulous freezer with no defrosting exactly as it claims. Unfortunately there seems to be a basic design flaw in that the drawer fronts on ALL drawers cracked within 6 months of purchase simply as a result of normal pulling open of the drawers. The plastic seems too brittle. All were replaced (but the entire drawer- not just the clip-on fronts...) and for a further 8 months all is well. RZA50

Advantages: Ideal size for our kitchen but now need to find one of similar size.
Disadvantages: Failed completely in 3 1/2 years, noisy, handle fell off.

...looked after it well. Hotpoint tell us there is nothing we can do. My advice to anyone out there is don't touch this appliance with a barge pole. I'm really annoyed because we paid a lot of money in good faith and expected it to last A LOT LONGER than this. Review of Hotpoint RZA50P

Good basic frost free freezer

Advantages: Good storage. Frost free. Energy saving
Disadvantages: No interior light. Drawers not see through

I bought this freezer about 3 months ago as a replacement for a 20 year old Zanussi double door freezer. They don't seem to make double door freezers any more, so I bought this fairly tall freezer hoping I wouldn't lose too much storage space. At first I thought the all plastic drawers were a bit flimsy, but I am now quite happy with them and I like the fact that any spills are contained in the drawer rather than falling down all through the freezer ...
...the drawers are not see through and unless you are a very organised person you will be pulling open all the drawers to find what you are looking for. Also there is no inside light which could be irritating if the freezer is in a dark place. I would also have liked an external temperature indicator I paid around £300 which I thought was a very good price for a frost free freezer of this size. Although it is "B" rated, it is using much less electricity ...

Enough Room To Hide A Body!!!!

Advantages: Huge
Disadvantages: No Auto Defrost or Frostfree

...We have a very good Hotpoint fridge/freezer as per my previous review but this just does not provide us with enough frozen food storage space which is why we went out and bought a chest freezer from Focus. We were very lucky as when we saw it our local branch was closing down and we managed to pick up the display model of the Hotpoint RCAA53P for only £120 it was in brand new condition with warranty and all the instructions and they even delivered ...
...not complain at the price, Hotpoint is one of our favorite brands as we find them super reliable even if a little expensive for spare parts. This freezer we knew when we bought it would not fit in our kitchen at all so we had decided that it's home would have to be out in the conservatory and boy does it take up a fair bit of space.
