Friskies Go-Cat Complete “Now even tastier!” or so they say. They? The manufacturers! Fortunately my cats don’t talk to me... I have enough back chat from the kids and the hubby without my adoring pets having a go too.
But are they even tastier than before? Well, much as I’d like to do the good consumer bit and say “Oh yes, they certainly are!”, I’ve never tried them, and have no intention ... ...let me tell you about Friskies Go-Cat Complete.
It comes in no less than ten varieties, three of which are designed for the specific needs of the younger or older cat....
~ For those adorable little babies you have Kitten with Chicken, Carrots and Milk.
~ For the OAP’s of the cat world you have Senior, with Chicken, Carrots & Rice or Senior with Cod, Green Vegetables & Rice.

But are they even tastier than before? Well, much as I’d like to do the good consumer bit and say “Oh yes, they certainly are!”, I’ve never tried them, and have no intention of trying them either. So why am I reviewing a product that I refuse to use? Because it’s cat food, and funnily enough I feed it to my cats!
Okay, enough waffle, back to business... no, not THAT kind of business, this is a cat food review, not a cat litter one. Hmmm, lame joke there, but hey, no-body is purrrrrrrfect! (Sorry, couldn’t resist that one). Right, in a vain attempt to claw my way back from the ranks of a useless op to one that’s purfectly acceptable, let me tell you about Friskies Go-Cat Complete.

~ For those adorable little babies you have Kitten with Chicken, Carrots and Milk.
~ For the OAP’s of the cat world you have Senior, with Chicken, Carrots & Rice or Senior with Cod, Green Vegetables & Rice.
~ For the 1-8 age group, you have ~ Tuna, Herring & Veg, ~ Salmon, Trout & Tuna, ~ Duck, Rabbit & Chicken, ~ Chicken, Beef & Liver, ~ Rabbit, Turkey & Veg, ~ Bacon, Turkey & Veg, ~ Chicken, Cheese & Lamb.
Go-Cat complete is a whole meal, that‘s to say, it has a sufficient nutritional composition to allow dry feeding to be the sole (or should that be Tuna?) offered food.
Recommendations on portion sizing are based on your cat’s size or weight. The guide lines are...
~ 30-75g per day for kittens (under 1’s)
~ 75g per day for a 3Kg cat (approx 6lb)
~ 90g per day for a 4Kg cat (approx 8lb)
~ 105g per day for a 5Kg cat (approx 10lb)
.... (I should add that the bracketed figures above refer to a rough weight conversion of the cat, not the food quantity, although I’m quite sure mine would happily eat as much as they were offered).
In addition to the above, you must also take into consideration a frisky cat’s status, ie those carrying or feeding kittens, in which case the recommended amounts to be given are....
~ 75-130g per day for a pregnant cat
~ 100-400g per day for the feeding mum
..... and don’t forget when feeding dry food (well especially in the case of dry food, but in general too), there must be plenty of fresh water available.
“For Cats with an Appetite for Life” says the box, my cats have a healthy appetite for most things, and they have never turned their noses up at any varieties of Go-Cat offered to them. Saying that though, they rarely turn their noses up at anything (edible or not), so why choose Friskies?
It agrees with all my cats. One, Mocha, has a slight intolerance to biscuits, and although she will quite happily munch away on whatever is in her bowl, she suffers for it later. But she has never reacted badly to Go-Cat Complete, which is a blessing because separating 9 felines to different feeding bowls is no easy thing to do.
In addition to the digestive issue, my cats look good on it. No, not standing on it (although that has been known), feeding on it. My two older cats, Mocha and Whiskey, suffer with quite greasy coats if their dietary needs are not met correctly (aww, paw things), and Go-Cat Complete seems to prevent this.
As for my others - Fudge, Smudge, Cookie, Shadow, Podge, Smokey, Bunny Rabbit and three little ones - they’re thriving on it, although the bone shaped biscuits seem to have caused a minor identity crisis for them, they can’t speak but they can do the most amazing dog impressions, including sitting up to beg and growling!!!
So, what is it in Friskies Go-Cat Complete that suits my cats so well. A combination of cereal, meat, vegetables, and....
~ Yeast, Essential fatty acids, and Vitamins A & E for a healthy coat
~ Taurine (and Vitamin A again) for good eyesight
~ Calcium for strong teeth and bones
~ More Vitamins and Minerals to maintain a healthy urinary tract
~ Fibre to keep those Litter manufacturers in business!
So, back to the claim of Friskies Go-Cat Complete being “even tastier“, well I still refuse to try it but if I change my mind, or my cats have another identity crisis and start talking instead of barking, I’ll let you know.
• ~ On a serious note, if your cats have wet food (ie of tin/pouch variety), and you want to change them over, you should introduce it gradually over a week or so. Firstly, by mixing a small amount of dry food with the wet, and then slowly increasing the ratio of dry to wet, and ultimately offering just the dry food ~ •
Advantages: My cats like them! Nice packaging :o) Disadvantages: My usual brand is a lot cheaper
...time they ended up with Friskies Go-Cat . They were priced at 99p for a 375g box from my local Alldays store but I think they are usually a good 10p cheaper from larger supermarkets – they are available in larger boxes/packs as well (500g and 1kg, I think).
Now I know many people feed their cats these crunchy biscuits as their only or main food but I prefer to feed mine tinned meat foods and supplement their meals with a handful of crunchies – perhaps ... ...so these will be reviewed more as a snack or treat rather than their main diet.
I love the packaging on most pet foods – there is always a most appealing, adorable kitty or two featured and this one is no exception. A gorgeous pale ginger cat licking his chops features largely on the bright yellow box. The variety in this case was the Adult version with Duck, Rabbit and Chicken. On the box this claims to be the “Optimal condition formula” as it ...

Advantages: Cat is happy with it! Disadvantages: Dog is happy with it !!
Friskies Go-Cat Complete is a balanced dry food designed for cats. It is crunchy and delicious all in one mouthful. A bowl of biscuits can be left down all day without the fear of flies laying eggs in the meat or the meat going off in the heat of the sun. The biscuits are baked in the oven in gravy making them ‘totally irresistible.’ Well the way Max eats them, it would indicate this supposition!
Max, although he likes his food is a ... ...Herring and Vegetables, but adores Bacon, Turkey and Vegetables.

Advantages: My cat likes it, resealable pouch, cheap, range of flavours Disadvantages: Doesn't come in reduced fat variety
...her various complete foods including Friskies Go-Cat Complete.
It boasts the claim 'helps maintain urinary tract health' as it is formulated to produce a slightly acidic urine (can't say I've noticed any difference). Apparently this food is first basted in gravy, then toasted in ovens to make it irresistable. However, she is also putting on weight (mind you, how can I blame Friskies for her laziness?)
It comes in a wide variety of flavours, to ... ...knotty. Do I have Friskies to blame for this? It includes calcium for strong bones, and vitamin A and taurine for bright eyes and good eyesight (judging by the number of 'presents' she brings home I would say that it is working).
They have just done some repackaging of this food and it has gone from a paper bag to a plastic pouch, which is resealable (good idea). There is also a customer care line on 0800 212181 and a website www.friskies.com.

Advantages: cat loves it, cheap, smells inoffensive too Disadvantages: none that I have found so far
...yellow and purple box called Friskies Go-Cat Complete. It has a lovely photo of a rather attractive ginger tom on the front. Mmmm, not bad, not bad at all. Now, where was I? Oh yes. So Mum mixed in some of this new stuff with half a bowl of my Hill's. She stood back and let me have a sniff. How I am supposed to eat with an audience! Honestly. These humans have strange ways sometimes. You should see what they do with my litter tray! Hmm. Anyway, I ... ...it worked - phew! - so she went back to her computer, while I had a feast. I must admit, I was impressed. It may be what Mum reassuringly described to Dad as "cheap", but it's pretty yummy too. Mummy certainly seemed satisfied to see I had licked the bowl clean in a few minutes. Well, I know she hates washing up, she's always going on about it. The flavour I had was rather bird-orientated, as it is Duck, Rabbit and Chicken, but there are other varieties ...

Advantages: Good for teeth Disadvantages: mine can open the box themselves
...Not only does friskies Go cat tell you how much to give your cat to keep them healthy they also do their boxes according to your cats age! You can get kitten, adult and Senior go cat. The size of the little pellets vary I suppose with the strength of their teeth, or as my cat the loss of most of his teeth. My cats love these cruchies so much that they have been known to get them out of the cupboard, bite open the corner and then even rattle the box ...

Advantages: Ask the Cat Disadvantages: Her farts stink
Most people on Ciao who know me will know that me and my partner recently acquired a kitten, a small tortoise shell bundle of fluff. She spends a third of her day eating, a third of her day sh*tting and farting and the other third of her day chewing the crap out of anything she can bite (including me).
And no before anyone asks, she doesn?t sleep, how I wish, anyway, what do I feed to this little scruffy looking hyperactive feline? Well, we were advised by the pet shop lady when we bought her to keep feeding the moggy on the same stuff that she had been fed in the shop as changing her grub could give her the sh*ts (wise advice).
Well, she had been fed on FriskiesGoCat so we have thus far kept her on the same food to avoid trickles of gravy all over the living room floor.
GoCat is available in a multitude of flavors from ...

Advantages: The cat loves it Disadvantages: could be cheaper
My cat Bubble is a nightmare.
He is very dopey when it comes to understanding things like: Stop scratching the rug
Or: Get off my bed you moulting moggy
However, he is surprisingly intelligent when hearing the words: Dinner time!
He knows exactly where the food is kept and unfortunatley he also knows what time he is fed (7.30 am) so on weekends or days off at 7.30 without fail he will be meowing and scratching and headbutting my bedroom door!
But I digress...
Bubble's favourite food (after duck from the local chinese) is Go-cat in foil pouches.
He refuses to eat from tins (though how he can tell is a mystery) and refuses to even touch any other brand other than Whiskas and even with that he only licks off the Jelly/gravy.
Not so with Go-cat! Every last crumb is finished.
100% satisfaction guaranteed.

Advantages: it is reasonably priced and great tasting Disadvantages: cant think of any
I can't say this stuff is yummy because it doesn't exactly appeal to me and I don't even think I would even eat it even if I was absolute drunk out my skull .
Well I suppose it would look like curry if you was that steaming so I might give it a go next time I get drunk and feeling too stingy to buy a curry.
Anyway friskiesgocat is something my mum always seems to buy for her cats. I can't stand these things as they are evil siamese and seem to destroy all my clothes by chewing them .
My mum just laughs but I fail to see the funny side of having a 70 pound jumper with huge holes in!
Anyway my mum is always saying how fussy the cats are about there food and this seems to be the only one she buys for them .
I get this one now and again for my ferrets because they enjoy tucking into a bit of cat meat . My "two little buggers ...
