Advantages Every Frontera is covered. Events planned Nationwide
Disadvantages Very Clique, Marque Specific
Since I own a Frontera (See my Frontera Review for which one, now on the 2.0i Sport Version) and have seen other groups like VVOC & LR having Meets in the Area I thought it was about time that I had a look to see if anything had been created for my Own Vehicle, So I looked in the Yahoo Groups and found a couple of Frontera Groups had in fact been formed but the posts were quite low!
I was on the verge of giving up when I read a post about a Specific Site
www.fronteraowners.co.uk
also known as F.O.G.. So I had a look!
You have Links and Options to Join the Group, Read Topics about Various Articles including Tyres, 4x4 Holidays and even a Discounts Tab.
Then as you look down the Page you find a Navigator to jump to the Technical Forum, Group Information and even the Yahoo
Group. So I carried on down the Page.
There's a Section for you to Advertise and Sell Fronteras either in Whole or Spares/Parts.
There's Information and Links for 4x4 Links, Towing, Green Lane Driving, Workshops or even Basic 4x4 FAQs for the Novice. There's Links to Purchase Frontera Owners Group Merchandise which is Clothing (Male and Female),Mugs, KeyRings or even Iron-on Patches.
You also have Links to Workshops where you can learn everything from How to change your Gearbox Oil to How to do a Suspension Lift to Ecotek + K&N Filter Installations. There even hints on how to Avoid expensive Garages and read Fault Codes with a Paperclip!
THE TECHNICAL FORUMOnce you Join F.O.G. you get Access to THE FORUM.
Here You can read about Everything!Section 1; Chat, Links, General Discussion, Suggestions
In here are the Main Threads,You can Look for Website Links for Frontera or Car Related Sites,
Frontera History, You can read How Vauxhall managed to get the Isuzu Rodeo's Frame and see Concepts on where the Frontera's Going.
General Discussions on everything from New Members saying Hi to Seeing what New Merchandise is Available like the New Hard-Shell Spare Wheel Cover.
Members Rides where You can put an image up of Your Frontera (Or other Vehicle for "Guest" members)
and say what you've got on it and what you're going to get on it and a bit about yourself.
All Around the Country Event Organisers are Arranging Meets, Social Events and Trips.
In the Midlands Section Alone there has been a Fording Run where 3 Fronteras and a Toyota HiLux spent a Couple of Hours just driving around and through Fords (NOT THE CAR) which varied from 5" deep to 2.5ft deep. And Organising a Meet Up at a Local 4x4 Pay & Play Centre in September 96 where (So Far) 5 Fronteras, A LandRover and A HiLux will be meeting, greeting and getting very muddy together! Total Vehicles present from FOG were 11 Vauxhall Fronteras and a HiLuxWe also Arrange Green Lane Driving Days where we go "Off-Road" and onto Ancient Road-Routes that are Sadly slowly being denied to us thanks to Irresponsible Off-Roaders who show no Consideration for their Actions.
Section 3; Technical ForumIn This Section you'll Find Non-Model Specific Fixes/Hints and Help for everything from the Axles to Steering to Engine Problems.
Section 4; Model & Engine Specific Technical LibraryIn here you'll Find Every Frontera Covered and Near Enough any Gripe that you can think of that's not been covered in the Tech Section.
All Fronteras from the 2.2 Petrol LWB to the 3.2 Petrol, the 2.8 Diesel and the 2.0 Petrol Sport, they're all covered and if you can't find the Help you need then Ask! They have Rezident Vx/Frontera Mechanics/Technicians who seriously know what they're talking about.
This is where we can tell the Entire Forum on Which Garages to go to and also where to avoid!!
All in all this Forum is an Excellent Medium for Frontera Owners to Find the Help they need With their Vehicles or if they don't need help then they can come in for a chat or even sign-upSUMMARY
All in all, I was very surprised by the Amount of Information available within the Site.If you own a Frontera then this is One Website that I strongly Suggest you look into Joining.
