Reviews of Frozen Meat & Fish »

Resisting the obvious puns is really hard...

Advantages: Fast and cheap loveliness
Disadvantages: Not exactly the healthiest tea around

...would? Lord knows why Mr Brain woke up one morning and decided to create his own special faggots – he could have had any meat based dish named after him but instead he chose to subliminally put many hundreds of children off their tea. In fact, there are no brains contained within so you can rest easy knowing that instead your offspring are feasting on the luxury that is pork liver and pork (11%) and other delights including lard, onion and rusk. ...
...and breadcrumbs thrown in to reduce the taste of pure lard. *** Apparently Mr Brain holds 90% of the faggot market which is very nice for him. Thanks for reading. Review will most definitely appear elsewhere. Caroline & Pig April 2009 Both loving the faggots. ...

Not a load of Pollocks

Advantages: Oily fish is good for you
Disadvantages: Crumb is overly dry

...a new offering from the Birds Eye stable - salmon fish fingers. I should state that I'm not a fan of convenience foods and fish fingers are particularly easy to make but, with a toddler, it's useful to have something tucked in the freezer for a quick lunch or tea. Salmon, as an oily fish, is a great meal for children (and adults) and so these fish fingers appealed more than the regular cod (or more commonly, Pollock) offerings. The fish fingers are ...
...compared to 63% Pollock for Birds Eye's regular fish fingers). One advantage of the salmon over the white fish is that they cook quicker - just 12 minutes in a high oven will see you with perfectly cooked fingers of fish. The salmon flakes well on cutting. It's perhaps not as moist as a baked piece of salmon but the unmistakable, slightly sweet taste of the salmon comes through clearly when the fish alone is eaten. So often my complaint about pre-prepared ...

...meat you get it is quite pricey. Availability This variety is specially packed for Aldi Stores and are usually available. I believe they are beginning to stock lamb shanks with a different flavour of sauce now. Thank you for taking the time to read this. ...

Review of Aldi Traditional Lamb Shanks in Rosemary and Mint Sauce

~ Ewe'll Like These ~

Advantages: Succulent & Tender
Disadvantages: Can be a Bit Messy removing them From the Bag To roast in the oven.

...in the freezer section at Tesco and you will find these wonderful slow cooked Lamb Shanks in mint gravy. Each box contains 2 generous portions with a total weight of 750g, and is priced at £4.49 The lamb shanks are packed individually in a plastic bag (very similar to the type used for the boil in the bag fish, but obviously much bigger) The fact that they are packed in singles is handy if you are just cooking for one, or as in our household 3, ...
...three shanks leaving one left over, thus meaning I only need to buy one box the next time, and so on. I have found that the contents of the box always seem to contain one larger shank and a slightly smaller one (wonder if this is meant to be a his and hers thing?) They can be cooked using 3 different methods Roasting in the oven (from frozen) for 1 hour (although if cooking 3 then I increase this to 1 hour 30 minutes) Microwave (need to defrost ...

Hoki koke lets have fish.

Advantages: Quick and easy alternative to the chip shop.
Disadvantages: Non that I can think of.

...surprise it was made by Birds Eye. As I said the batter is golden and crispy, the fish inside was white and had a texture similar to cod but with heaps more flavour (although I like cod the best of the wet fish, to me it has a ‘washed’ taste) and was moist, not dry like some I’ve tasted. Let me tell you the facts. Priced at between £2.75 and £3.50 they are not that cheap (my friend got them on an introductory offer) but I still think they are good ...
...For those conservationists amongst us Birds Eye is one of the few big companies that seem to have ‘Green’ policies. It tells you on the packet that, ‘Birds Eye’s Ocean Friendly guarantee is our commitment to responsible fishing practises. By broadening the range of fish that we use, we can ensure fish stocks for generations to come. To remove the pressure from Cod, Fish Steaks will now be available in New Zealand Hoki. The first white fish certified ...
