McCain Smiles - Perfect for a Fussy Eater
Advantages: quick to cook Disadvantages: none
...thing he does love is McCain Smiles. Packaging
On the front of the red plastic packaging is a picture of a sunflower, when you look closely you can see that it is actually sunflower petals and in the middle is a smile which I think is very clever! When I took the smiles out of the bag they looked very pale in colour, they are round with of course a smiley face, there are holes for the eyes and a big smiley mouth. Cooking Instructions
You ... ...the oven at gas mark 7 and they usually take 12- 15 minutes to cook. Once the smiles come out of the oven they will look golden in colour and look very inviting to eat! Ingredients Potatoes, Dehydrated Potato (contains Turmeric), Sunflower Oil, Potato Starch, Salt, Stabiliser (E464), Pepper Extract Allergens - None Each smile contains mashed potato, I can always taste a very light hint of seasoning. The coating of the smile is prepared with sunflower ...

Yummy Curry aka Chicken Rogan Josh By Sainsburys.
Advantages: Very quick and not pots and pans to wash up! Disadvantages: I dont get much needed cooking practice!
What is it?
Chicken Rogan Josh with pilau rice. Or Chicken Curry.
A frozen Ready meal from Sainsburys, that lovely supermarket I now seem to know as a seccond home. How is it I find myself there three times a week?
Why did I buy it?
I was feeling very lazy, bad day with the kids and going to work at 6pm no time for cooking!
I have to admit, I'll buy anything if it's on offer and this was no different. The offer was buy 2 for £4 and the idea ... ...have it again the next sounded great! My finace doesnt eat curry so I bought him sweet and sour because he is a pussy!
The packaging is in those kind of rich colours you associate with indian food purple and a really deep pinky colour. Theres also a picture of the yummy stuff on it too and when you are hungrey and shopping this is very effective!
I love a good curry and usally go for the hottest thing around but as the alternative was Korma I went ...

A speedy snack
Advantages: taste nice, quick to make as a snack Disadvantages: packed with processed stuff and e numbers - not at all healthy!
I had seen Hot Pockets in the shops many times, but didn't actually buy them until recently when I was doing an online shop. People say shopping online saves money as you don't buy things you don't need, but to be honest, I've found it to be the opposite with me, I end up buying loads of stuff I wouldn't normally, these being a prime example. These are basically 'pockets' of puff pastry with a bacon and egg filling. I suppose they are similar to ... ...and sealed. You get two in a pack and I'd say they are best as a snack, although you could have them as part of a main meal if you wanted. You can cook these either in the microwave or the oven. I chose the microwave, because it's so much quicker. When microwaving you must put the hot pocket into a 'crisping sleeve' which is provided in the box. This is basically just a cardboard sleeve, but I must admit, I found it a bit fiddly getting the product ...

One of my favourite foods is no more
Advantages: Takes about 10minutes to nuke Disadvantages: Changed recipe from an exceptional basic curry, to an average Jalfrezi / Rogan Josh sort of style curry
For years, the BirdsEye Chicken Curry was one of my favourite foods (with my Dad having quit stocking my previous favourite curry, The "Vesta Beef Madras" I think it was).... a nice basic curry with a bit of a kick to it.
From what I recall there was 2 bags... one with rice, the other with Chicken, Curry sauce + raisins / currants if memory serves me correctly (and it was sodding impossible to get the stains from it off the breadboard if you splashed ... ...to that in their "Roast Chicken Dinner" once you'd sucked off the curry sauce.
Sometime around 2003/2004 they brought out a new "improved" (my arse) version..... whether it was because they'd got a new person in charge of the curry range, or to keep the food fascists off their back.... or just a result of the restructuring from parent company Unilever I don't know.
The new curry comes in a two part plastic container (which has a tendency to break ...

hmmmm cheese hamwich.......
Advantages: great taste, quick and simple to prepare Disadvantages: not very filling
Intro Bit
So... I don't usually buy this type of food, being a more I'll make things from scratch type of guy, however we out shopping at Iceland and a special offer caught my eye: 'Bernard Mathews Cheese Hamwich only £1'. I was wondering just what a cheese hamwich was (which on second thought was quiet obvious)...Upon closer inspection of the picture on the packet I decided to get a pack, after all it's only a pound and anything is worth trying ... ...Cheese Hamwich
To my suprise and delight there were 6 hamwiches in the pack, I had only been expecting about 4, and they were pretty big, bigger than I thought they would be anyway.
A cheese hamwich is basically a piece of 'ham' (sort of tasted like spam I thought) with some cheese on, and this is covered in breadcrums, which go lovely and crispy and if you are lucky some cheese oozes out during cooking and makes the whole thing even more crispy!
...
