A definite favourite! Advantages: Delicious, quick, smells great. Disadvantages: Quite costly ...have sampled many of the weightwatchers ready meals, some pleasing me more than others, the most recent one that I tried was the Beef Lasagne. As I am quite a fan of lasagne, I was quite excited to try this, but also slightly scared, what if it put me off Lasagne forever?! My mum was going out on a night out, and I knew I couldnt be bothered to cook myself a meal from scratch the particular night, so down I trailed to tesco in search of something ... ...not a dieter, however the weightwatchers ready meals are infact designed for the people following the weight watchers diet. Studying the packaging closer, I am told that this ready meal counts towards 5 weight watchers points- not bad for a meal. If you arent on the diet but were interested in the calories content, this meal contains a rather low 259 calories, and only 8.3g of fat, of which 4.2 saturates. This wasn't a happy chicken (and certainly isn't now) Advantages: Quick and nutritional Disadvantages: Would be nutritional if you could actually eat it ...to the left is the Birds Eye logo of that rainbow drop shape and 'Birds Eye; writeen in White chunky bold text. The raindrop shape is also transparent so that the fields shows through. To the right of this logo is a red text box claiming 'NATURALLY RICH IN ANTIOXIDANTS'. The 'Antioxidents' is written in a larger font (though this is unhelpful if you don't know what they are). Below this is a very appealing photo of what you meal should look like. ... ...tomoto sauce with a few ripe tomatoe bits laying on top, all of which are sitting on a bed of creamy penne pasta and greenbeans. No wonder I picked it up. The the left of the picture, below the logo, is the impertaive text 'eat postive' with the 'v' being depicted as a big green tick. Too small and Too big Advantages: Quick and Easy Disadvantages: High in Fat, Portion size too small for adult too big for child I find that Birds Eye Spaghetti bolognese is on one hand too small and the other too big. If you want Birdseye Spaghetti Bolognese for an adult for dinner the portion size is too small. Really for an adult you would need to acompany this meal with other things for example a salad or some crusty bread so that you could feel full up afterwards. If you want to heat up and serve your 4 year old child a portion of Birds Eye Spaghetti Bolognese when you ... ...size is far too big. There is now way that my 4 year old would eat all of it and of course you cannot reheat it again so a lot of it has gone to waste. Subsequently I no longer use this meal to feed my 4 year old as it is just too expensive to waste. So where is the solution. Cheesy Review Advantages: Tasty for microwave food. Disadvantages: Not enough for a meal alone, 530 calories per serving. ...for such occasions is the Findus Macaroni Cheese from their 'Pasta Presto' range. Whilst not a huge fan of pasta in general, I do like a nice Macaroni Cheese and we probably make one at home once every few months. So, what of this Findus affair? Not so Cheesy Findus Beef Lasagne Advantages: Handy quick meal. Disadvantages: Not enough cheese topping Findus beef Lasagne is a frozen ready meal. I got this for 89p at my local tesco store. Comes in a 400g pack, and will feed 1 hungry adult or 2 children. it looks quite appetising when you take it out of the box, but there is only a fine shaving of the red Leicester cheese on the top! Personally i would like more cheese. Nutritional values are 410 calories 14g Fat 2.5g Fibre 15g Sugar. However the packet tells you to microwave on full power for ... ...it is cooked be very careful as it is extremely hot and i would suggest using oven gloves to pick the tray up. Next to serve I would like to put it directly on to a warm plate but it is not very easy to get it out of the serving tray, if you cut it into 4 sections it can be removed using a serving slice tool.
