I have a passion for chocolate but I also love milk chocolate with Turkish delight. I have tried various brands but my favourite is Fry’s.

Whilst shopping at Asda I was ‘delighted’ to find that they had Fry’s Turkish Delight on special offer. A pack of three usually cost 99p but two packs today cost me £1.50. So there I was with my boots blacked stuffing two packs in my trolley. They won’t last long though because my husband likes them too.

Fry’s Turkish Delight claim to be ‘92% fat free and full of eastern promise’. The packaging is made of a deep pink plastic with ‘Turkish’ in large bold white writing and ‘Delight’ in much smaller gold lettering. Inside are 3 individually wrapped bars of ‘Turkish Delight’, which are very similar to the outer wrapping except they are in a very shiny shade of pink.

For the purpose of Ciao research today I have eaten two bars of Turkish delight as they are not very big and I wanted to make sure I had the taste just right. So each 51g bar contains an oblong shaped bar of milk chocolate covered Turkish delight. The first thing I noticed when I bit into the bar was that the chocolate is very thin on the bottom, but this is certainly made up for on the top layer and it is much thicker and as mine had been in the fridge all afternoon, quite hard. The Turkish delight is a very deep, shiny pink and smells slightly scented, as it is rose Turkish delight. The combination of the hard milk chocolate and the soft, jelly like texture of the Turkish delight is delicious. One bar is certainly not enough and even after two I could have quite easily eaten another one. The taste is just right, it is not too sickly and afterwards I could still taste the fragrant Turkish delight in my mouth.

I was surprised to read on the wrapper that Fry’s Turkish Delight is made by Cadbury, but then again I shouldn’t have been really as they do make the best chocolate.

Highly recommended.
Be warned though, the fat content may be low, but not it you eat two bars at a time.

Each bar has 185 kcal/790 kj, protein 1g, carbohydrate 37.4g, fat 3.7g.

The ingredients do include a few E numbers and also may include a trace of nuts.
