In 1991, the Sabre Group developed and launched Fudge 'Shaper', a sticky styling clay that was unique to the market in Australia. Specifically marketed to young, teenage boys, the launch of Shaper was timely with the growth of men's grooming products becoming more evident in the 1990's.
Fudge was available for use in UK salons from 1994 and the internet from 1999.

~o0o~ The History of My Fudge ~o0o~ Alongside many other people, I am on the mission to find the perfect hair product…with little success! I have tried many different brands and qualities and although they all promise the world, they only tend to be good in their own, specific situation. After changing to an exclusive hairdresser this summer (since I started earning money!), I discovered the Fudge Hair range.
One day, whilst having my mop cut and styled, I discussed the dilemma I had with hair products to my hairdresser (she is a very kind, tolerant lady!) with the aim to obtain some professional knowledge. She showed me several different brands and explained the advantages of each product, but declared that each has their own specialty and should be chosen with that in mind. Some sound advice…so after some time thinking about my new super cool hair mop, I decided to try a pot of Fudge "Shaper". Why? Well, with the image of being a strong, easy to use product, I assumed that it would be good in most situations, right?
Just to let you know, I have been using this product for a good half year now (on and off) and I am still on the same tub.
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨˜"°º•• Packaging ••º°"˜¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ To be truthful, it is not easy to miss any of the Fudge Hair products since the year 2000, when they introduced an orange and grey colour scheme! The distinctive shape of each container within the Fudge Hair range ensures each product is recognisable without any difficulty.
The 'Shaper' pot sits about 80mm high, with a narrow base that expands out toward the vivid lid. This allows the use of a decent size lid for easy, welcoming access to the sticky creation within! I feel the packaging is well formed and individual, making it eye-catching and easy to hold. It sits well in the palm of a hand, or on a surface.
I've dropped mine all over the place and as you would expect, nothing has happened to it.
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨˜"°º•• Price and availability ••º°"˜¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ As said in the history section, this product is only available in salons. This is a crafty marketing plan for the Fudge brand, the objective, to become an exclusive, high quality product with a designer street edge. Great…you know what you are buying is a quality product…the only problem is the variety of prices that people can charge.
So true to form, I did a little price research. Feeling a little bemused at the salon charging a whopping £12 a pot for the sticky crème, I was sure I could find it cheaper. With an idea of the price I was expected to pay I turned my efforts to splashing around on the internet! I was pleased to find the majority of prices were approximately £8.50, however with the addition of P+P this increased to around £10. Although I am not a regular user, I found the best price to be on eBay from a market seller. I was charged £8.50 with free P+P saving a good £3-4!...excellent!... The product arrived very quickly, within 3 days so I was able to use it that week!
The Hair Shaper is available in both 25g/0.88oz and 100g/3.5oz tubs. The costs mentioned above relate to a 100g pot.
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨˜"°º•• How to use ••º°"˜¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ As soon as you get it, I would recommend twisting off the bright orange lid and taking a good strong sniff…ahhh, sweet, sweet caramel! I'm not sure how good this is for you, so don't do it too often. You will probably want to sit down for a while after, but as soon as you are ready, delve right in. This stuff is pretty sticky and stretches like a good mozzarella cheese, so be careful!
~o0o~ Now, this is important! ~o0o~ From experience, I would suggest that you only use a small amount! I have found that if you use too much at one time, it does not work well and makes your hair rough. It helps to apply the crème with your fingertips, as this restricts the amount you use and gives a more even spread when rubbing through your hair. REMEMBER, this product produces a matte look, so if it is starting to look wet, you may have used too much!
Apply Hair Shaper to hands, rub thoroughly and distribute evenly through the hair and style.
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨˜"°º•• Longevity ••º°"˜¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ When used on dry hair this stuff really does hold! Once again be careful with how much you use, as if you use to much, it makes your hair heavy. It generally lasts all day and allows a little bit of re-moulding, although I find it dries out somewhat if you do this too much. The product is also relatively easy to wash out, which I would recommend you do. I have found, like most products, it dries out my hair a little when left in over night, although it does give a very effective "out of bed" look in the morning!
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨˜"°º•• Taste ••º°"˜¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ Now, I don't recommend this, but I thought for the purpose of the review, it was essential to cover every possible feature of the product! The caramel smell and smooth texture make the paste very tempting and hard to resist…but alas, it does not taste like caramel…this maybe due to the lack of caramel ingredients. I would have to say, stick to using it as a hair care product rather than a food…even if you are starving I would recommend you avoid consumption and would suggest possibly selling it to buy something more substantial…like a Caramac!

¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨˜"°º•• Opinion ••º°"˜¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ I have realised that, although there are many products out there, you really have to mix and match what you use to the type of hair you have at the time. Obviously hair types vary greatly anyway, so this review is only truly suitable for people with thick, heavy hair like mine. I have found my hair has really taken to this fudge. This product works superbly when my hair is short to medium length, however it struggles when longer. Then again, it does still work when used on a longer length hair, but I find you have to start putting more and more of the product in your hair to get an effect which ruins the texture and quality of your hair.
All that said I am still on the search for the perfect hair product. Although very close, there is something about this product that I do not quite get on with. Maybe it is just because I do not use it quite as I should or because I like moaning, but whatever the case, I would still have to recommend this product to anyone looking for a decent hair shaper. You won't be let down.

...ended up picking out the Fudge Hair Shaper: firm hold factor 2. I had a read of the back and as well as styling it said it could also be used to scrunch hair. Since I have curly hair I have pinched it a few times to try and define my curls better.
Packaging
It comes in an orange plastic pot with a grey/silver lid. The Fudge symbol (a black design with an 'F' in the centre) is displayed on top of the lid. There are directions as well ... ...and http://www.gostraight.co.uk sells the Fudge line. How long does it last?
My brother goes through about a pot a month. If you used the suggested small amount I would predict it would last you about 3 months.
Opinion
I must admit this is probably best for short hair, but it does help define my curls. Sometimes my hands tend to get stuck on the ends of my hair because it is a lot longer. My brother gets some great results, ...

...to my bemused friend that fudge is actually the name of the styling wax I use to achieve not only the best 'spiked' hair this side of an episode of Buffy, but also the most delicious smelling hair outside of a Rowntrees factory.
Smell is one of the most powerful, evocative senses which can elicit all kinds of emotions, from revulsion to a state of olfactoral ecstasy, and Fudge Hair Shaper is definitely on the latter end of that scale. This stuff ... ...waft of your girlfriends perfume... Fudge makes you smell as good as you look - every time, and notta lotta hair products can boast that!

...anyone says when you're wearing Fudge is that your hair smells nice. Definitely the best hair styling product I've ever used, it doesn't just smell nice, but holds extremely well and even when you use it as regularly as I do, lasts for ages.
I first discovered Fudge when my mate came into school and the aroma of his hair was the main talking point amongst most of the girls we knew. It turned out that he had "borrowed" some Fudge Shaper off his brother, ... ...sweet-smelling styling solution that is Fudge Shaper. With no idea where I could get it, but remembering something about it being hard to find, I turned to my perennial problem solver, the internet.

Fudge shaper is quite possibly the most impressive stying product I have found (and I used many i my years of being a hairdresser)The first thing you notice about it is that it is extremely gooey. You could easily be forgiven for thinking it is last thing you want on your hair as you try and prise the lid off without covering anything nearby in a sticky white mess. However the smell of it is usually enough to make you consider it a little longer. ... ...mix in a bit of Fudge putty before you add the water.
Fudge products are starting to appear on the High St.,but still the easiest way to find them is in hairdressers. The Shaper is packaged in a orange and black tub, so fairly easy to spot.The tub has an inner lid which seems a bit pointless at first, but in fact stops it from turning into an unusable stodge.The worst thing you can do is leave the lid off.

Since purchasing Fudge Shaper from Slapiton.tv. (excellent customer service by the way) it has become one of my most used and favourite products. I am a bit of a flibertygibert when it comes to beauty stuff...buying brand after brand of stuff then discarding the poor flicked off product, to be later palmed off to my unsuspecting sister or mother! Anyway the fact that my Shaper is still being used warrants me recommending it to you. ... ...My First Fudge Moment In the orange and silver 100g tub of Fudge Shaper I found what looked like white creamy textured wax/cream.
