When my brother was 15 he decided to go get a "proper" haircut. In the past he'd just let my dad attack him with the hair clippers, but all his friends were getting all these new messy cuts, so he had to join in.
As usual, when they got to the counter the hairdresser went through the suggested products and my brother ended up picking out the Fudge Hair Shaper: firm hold factor 2. I had a read of the back and as well as styling it said it could also be used to scrunch hair. Since I have curly hair I have pinched it a few times to try and define my curls better.
== Packaging
==
It comes in an orange plastic pot with a grey/silver lid. The Fudge symbol (a black design with an 'F' in the centre) is displayed on top of the lid. There are directions as well as a description of the product on the back of the pot.
== The Product
=
The pot describes it as "A superior styling formulation. Mould it, scrunch it, comb it, or simply brush through and leave it. Humidity and temperature resistant. Shampoos out easily."
It is a creamy colour and has a gloopy consistency. It can feel rather sticky on your fingers but it shouldn't in your hair unless you use too much. I only use a little bit but my brother tends to cake it on to get the desired effect (big messy spikes that are going to stay there all day).
The smell is described as caramel but it reminds me a bit of the alcoholic drink, Malibu, when it's inside the bottle. (I'm sure you all go around sniffing alcohol bottles. lol)
You will need to wash your hands after using the Hair Shaper because your fingers always feel sticky and have excess product on them.
== Directions
=
You apply the product to dry hair. You are only supposed to use a small amount, putting it first onto the palm of one hand before rubbing them together. When the Shaper is distributed evenly between both hands, you then work through the hair to create the look you're after.
== Price
==For the 100g/3.5oz pot it will set you back around £9.50. (My mum nearly had a heart attack after already paying nearly £30 for the cut!)
== Where To Buy
=
The only place I've seen this in is hair salons but I did a quick search of the internet and http://www.gostraight.co.uk sells the Fudge line.
== How long does it last?
==My brother goes through about a pot a month. If you used the suggested small amount I would predict it would last you about 3 months.
== Opinion
==
I must admit this is probably best for short hair, but it does help define my curls. Sometimes my hands tend to get stuck on the ends of my hair because it is a lot longer. My brother gets some great results, though, and now swears by it. I think the days of 99p pots of gel are long gone, much to my mum's dismay.
So if you have a style to your hair that you'd like to keep all day then I'd recommend this product for you. Like I said before, it's also good for curls, but if your hair is long and straight then this one is not for you.
