Possession

Possession is nine tenths of the law, claims the saying.
It is never really true, but the saying persists.
In this case, possession of a Fujifilm AC 5VH adapter, was nine tenths of the reason for this review. The other tenth, was the fact that I was flicking through Ciao's Member Centre. I had clicked on the part that highlights products which have not yet been reviewed and which could provide a lucrative reward - doubled during June.
First product listed was this one, and so a review was essential.

The challenge, clearly, is what to say about such a must-have, highly trendy object of desire, as an AC adapter for a Fuji camera.!!??
Unkind people who know me professionally or as a Ciao reviewer, will no doubt snigger and reckon that it is no major challenge for me to speak or write a thousand words on anything, and so waffling on about this adapter should not be difficult.

Ownership

You are probably asking yourself, what possessed me to go out and use my scarce resources on something of this nature.
Well, the truth is simple. I obtained it as part of the kit I got when I purchased my Fuji F601 – the object of my (not very good ) first ever review on Ciao.
I imagine that most purchasers of Fuji cameras have obtained theirs in a similar manner, and purchases will be limited to those who have mislaid or mistreated their original.

The adapter converts AC power from your home supply into DC voltage to power your camera.
First use, then, is to plug it directly into your camera and charge the battery inside the camera. Just a flick of the switch, and your camera will be charged in about half an hour.
Its second use is not totally disconnected from the first.
You plug the DC jack into Fujifilm PictureCradle – (also supplied with my camera, and a possible further fascinating review, if you are lucky !! ).
The cradle holds the camera in place while it is charging, but it has another function. From the rear of the cradle a cable leads to your computer USB port, allowing automatic downloading of pictures taken on the camera’s smart media card.
Fuji advise having the adapter in place for this task at all times.
While downloading is taking place, battery consumption is high. If the battery charge level is low, the downloading process can be adversely affected, and pictures spoiled or lost.
If, however, you have the adapter in place, the charge remains constant, and your downloading will be the better for it.

Well what an exciting read that was. I can just hear all the ‘e’s thudding into my comment box – Ciao’s server will glow with white heat as buddies all over the country wax lyrical at such a helpful review. Diamonds and Premium fund payments will exceed all imagination; and so I just want to say a heartfelt word of thanks to all who have read any of this review. And what can I say to those few who have read every single word ??? .... Get a life??
