A Classic That's Still Got It's Place

Advantages Great Zoom and Excellent Picture Quality from a 2MP Camera
Disadvantages Low Resolution + Few Advanced Features
This camera was top of the class back when it was released.
Award winning and desrvedly so.
6X Optical Zoom and Fantastic Picture Quality for the Resolution mean this is a camera not to be sniffed at.
Small enough for little hands and the ergonomics are excellent with the buttons laid out very intuitively.
Using Cheap Smart Media Cards and Powered by 4xAA batteries you can keep running costs low by using NiMh rechargables. I always used 1700mah batteries and it lasted ages!
Using a good printer I've printed out my wedding pictures with this camera and it saved my life! The wedding photographer was useless and only took one of the important shots and typically one of us was blinking or something. My brother used this camera (first time he'd used it - EASE OF USE!) and we use one of the shots as our MAIN PHOTO!!!
It's just been to Norway and captured brilliant pictures!
The Macro capability is also excellent but you can sometimes get lens shadow with the flash.
The advanced settings that there are allow you to select different flash modes, self timer and white balance. It's digital so you can take 3or 4 shots at different settings and keep the best!
Ok so it's dated now but if you can't afford the latest technology and see this for sale second hand or in an auction it's worth a look! It's worth noting Fuji have excellent repair support....
I recently dropped it with the lens fully zoomed and it caught on my desk and popped out. Fuji fixed it and serviced it giving me another years warranty for just £99!
Put it this way...
I'm a teacher and my department bought a canon ixus 4MP camera. Lovely to look at but comparing the shots taken on two trips and a performance in a darkened hall....
My Finepix 2800Zoom came up with clearer better shots!!!
The ixus couldn't focus on moving people on the stage in a dark hall, the 2800 could!

In Reply to TRICKSTY, eBay has quite a few ranging from £1- £51 currently. I would assume they will all finish up arund £40-£60 but there's alwayys the chance of picking one up cheaper in auctions! Searching in Jessops brought up a second-user one in their Leicester World Camera Centre store Try searching for second hand/user digital cameras on google? But eBay is probably the easiest way to get one.
