of the cost of original manufacturers and can be used in many makes and models of digital device. Rechargeable digital batteries are rated in "mAh" which stands for "milli-ampere hours". This rating is used to state the storage capability of a battery, e.g. a 1000mAh battery would be capable of delivering 1000mA of current consistently for one hour whereas a 2000mAh battery would deliver the same 1000mA of current for two hours. Having been used to Canon AE1, an excellent quality SLR camera, and having stupidly sold it to go digital, I found myself really missing the quality I had been used to. My first digital camera was, in fact, a Fuji FinePix. It was one of their very early models and although it was then considered to be one of the better quality models it obviously could not begin to compare to my SLR Canon.
After a year or so of very disappointing photos I eventually bought my 4900 Zoom from eBay and I was the second user. It cost me £300 a couple of years ago, although I expect you could get one for even less now.
To say I was pleased with it would be an understatement. I was thrilled! I took the camera out of the box, inserted the memory card plugged it in the mains and took a shot, without even opening the instruction book. (If you read many of my reviews you will learn that I hate reading instruction books and manuals). I quickly checked the viewing screen and saw what looked like a good sharp image. I transferred the image to my PC and was astounded at the quality of the image, without any setting up on my part too!
The 4900 Zoom is a great camera with lots of room for creative photography. You can set it on automatic and let the camera do all the hard work, or, if you are a keen photographer and like to be creative, you can use it in the same way you would use an SLR camera. It has various flash settings, including ‘Red Eye Reduction’ or you can also set the flash on ‘automatic’ and just click away to your hearts content.
It has a whole host of settings, some of which include:
Macro Continuous Shooting Self-Timer Auto Bracketing Movie Mode.
On the ‘Mode’ dial you can choose between:
Shutter Priority Auto Aperture Priority Auto Programmed Auto Auto - Manual Scene Positioning Movie Setup.
The 4900 Zoom uses Super CCD with 2.4 million pixels which delivers a high resolution file with 4.32 million pixels. With the use of an ‘Adapter Ring’ you can use various lenses and filters. The lens aperture is F/2.8-11 with shutter speeds of 3 sec – 1/2000 sec. It also has two ‘Zoom’ buttons – one on the top and one on the side for convenience. It has a 6 x Optical Zoom and a 3.7 x Digital Zoom There is a video out socket enabling you, very easily, to use your TV as a viewing monitor.
It takes ‘Smart Media’ (3.3V) and the battery (NP 80) can be charged within the camera using the AC Power Adapter (AC-5V/AC-5VH). You can also buy a fast charger to charge the batteries outside of the camera, which usually takes 30 minutes. It has a USB connection to upload your photos to your PC or, again, you can use an external card reader if you prefer.
A friend of mine has just bought a new, modern camera and he was boasting its quality to me (I just smiled) later we were at an event together and both took photographs. I set my camera to be fully automatic and just clicked away with no fuss. He sent me the pictures he took the next day and I have to say… No contest! The colour and sharpness in his just was not there by comparison! My 4900 Zoomed past his in quality :O)
I found this camera to be everything I want in a camera! Lovely quality photos – sharp, true colours and all without too much fuss :O)
As I said in the opening paragraph, there should be plenty of second user 4900 Zoom cameras about (we are a people who LOVE upgrading). If you find one - buy it!
Advantages: Superb Image Quality Disadvantages: A lot of manual option settings to master
Up until a few of years ago, quality digital photography was in the realms of professional studios, and even then it was difficult to find a studio taking full advantage of the technology available. If you were a professional photographer looking to get on the digital ladder, a digital camera back for your beloved Hasselblad would set you back somewhere in the region of £25,000. That's a lot of work to find to cover your expenditure, but rather like ... ...became available to the masses, digital imaging has come of age.
For a couple of years, I've messed around with an Olympus Camedia, doing odd shots as part of my work as a Designer for an in-house Marketing facility. I've had the camera at home, and it's great for 'grab shots' of the kids and general days out and I found the only problem was keeping the dog still long enough for the Capture Device to not make an ageing Collie look like an out-take ...

Advantages: Picture quality, features, handling. Disadvantages: Battery life, viewfinder.
We have had this camera for over a year now and it has produced excellent results in a wide variety of conditions, including low light and aerial photography. It is easy to handle and navigate through the wide range of creative options - considering the number of possible adjustments, it is rare to need to refer to the manual. The zoom range is good, although a bit more at the wide end would be useful. The results are hard to fault when printed on ... ...the image quality is excellent. Macro is superb as well
If you are buying this camera, or the similar but newer 6900Z, you would be well advised to buy an off-camera fast charger and at least one, preferably two, spare batteries - which are proprietary Lithium-Ion rechargeables. This allows you to charge one while you have dinner and the other overnight - charging on-camera is too slow to do this. Both ours are genuine Fuji - clones are available ...

Advantages: 4.3 million pixels - rechargable aa batteries Disadvantages: No microdrive compatible
...I previously have had the Fujifilm MX 2700 model and recently bought the Finepix 4700. Actaully this camera is one of the best digital cameras I have ever seen. It is very small, and it can fit easily to your pocket. Its unique feature and the most important one is its ability to take interpolated shots at the time you take the actual shot. This means that you can get a picture of 4.3 million pixels, which is a stunning performance. The most of the ... ...million pixels. This camera has a CCD of 2.43 million, however, due to its interpolation option (Which boost the resolution to 4.3 million)it produces a relly great result. Another unique feature is the new generation CCD which is integrated to the camera. This advanced system, is the Fuji's new technology on CCD's and using a polygonical cell structure, it produces more balanced colour pictures. Other good points of this camera, is its video option ...

Advantages: GR8 quality pics at home, not in a studio Disadvantages: Battery life is far to short
The fujifilm 4900 zoom camera uses a smart media card and takes fantastic quality photos. The camera has many photo quality option to choose from and loads of different setting.
I have had my camera for three years now and i am still learning new things about it. Every now and then i have a look through the instruction manual to refresh my memory and i always learn something new. [or i seem to anyway]
The camera its self is very chunky and rather ... ...strap which i find really usefull.
You can buy extra lens to increase the performance of the shoots but i have not felt a need to buy one as the camera is excellent without them.
Also extra flashes can be added if desired, but yet again i have not felt the need for one, because the built in flash is great
One of the BIGGEST draw backs to this camera is that the battery life is very very short, and i tend to use it plugged into the mains. If i ...

Advantages: Quality of Picture, Build quality and features. Disadvantages: Size, battery life.
Amazing quality of pictures, and thats on about half the potential of the camera, have not tried full quality as I really don’t need it. It has lots of features which include the manual adjustment all settings including white balance, focus, exposure etc. as well as the ability for a quick 'on the go' snap by setting to automatic, hence its quite large size. There is the feature that allows you to snap a short movie without sound, this is rather ... ...is the setting for multiple (continuous)pictures which is useful for action shots. The built in flash is very good, with anti red eye, the LCD display is average, but the SLR style look through the lens is good in bright conditons where is screen is unviewable, and when you need to hold the camera still to avoid movement when holding it out infront of you to look onto the screen. The optical zoom is a very powerful 6x. Therefore I would say this ...

Advantages: Offers a non DSLR option to people ready to move beyond point and shoot. Disadvantages: Too many limits to make it a real option to serious photographers.
on a DSLR, I decided to write a review on it myself in the hope that they would find my review and be persuaded not to waste there money.
Now whilst the FujifilmFinePix S2000HD is not a replacement for a DSLR it is in its own right a fine camera, Fujifilm are well known for producing this type of camera known as a "bridge camera" because it is supposed to bridge the gap between cheap point and shoot digitals and the much more up-market DSLR`s. This particular offering from Fujifilm is part of a line of bridge cameras that can be traced back to the FinePix4900Zoom, launched in the summer of 2000.
Cameras in general have come a long way in that time and so has the Fujifilm bridge range and this FujifilmFinePix S2000HD is a 10.0 megapixel camera with a 15x zoom lens, sensor-shift image stabilization and HD video recording which really is ...
