You may have may opinion on the SiPix Blink cam. I was impressed with the camera, but soon that wore off when it would not download 59 photoes i had taken, and it then went on the wipe its memory of these. I'll tell you now, THAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF!
Well now step foreward the FujiFilm FinePix A204. It has been said by people that it is just Fuji 2600 Zoom with another name, but not knowing about this other camera, I cannot comment on this.
The camera is small compact measuring 65mm x 100.4mm x 51.7mm, and weighs 185 grammes. the zoom lens is covered by a sliding cover. To turn the camera on there is a sliding button on the top. With cover slid back a whirring sound starts and the lens comes out, and Lcd display lights up. When first turning on the camera it asks you to input the date, which is not necessary unless you want to the function for stamping the date and time on your photos.
Taking photos is easy, first select the resolution you want to use (0.3M, 1M, 2M normal and 2M Fine, aim at the subject using either the view finder or the Lcd display, then press the button. Circuling this button is switch which has three functions. Taking photos, recording video clips, and play back mode, for viewing both. When viewing photographs you can zoom in to any part of the picture using the digital zoom. It is suggested by Fuji that function be used to zoom in and check for bluryness in the picture, and not as a way of getting closer to the subject, as digital zoom just enlarges a section of the photo making it become pixilated and grainy. The zoom function is operated by a roll button on the back of the camera. move up to zoom in and down to go out. There is maximum of 3x optical zoom. The LCD uses battery power and is not really needed for taking photos as the camera has a view finder.
The camera has lots of different functions when taking photos. The camera has an FGF (Framing Guideline Function)option. A grid of 9 squares appears on the on the LCD, enabling you to align your shot with the horizon and a guide to the size and overall balance of the shot. The 10 second timer allows you time to get in the photo yourself, which is good for all you camera whores outthere. A built in flash enables photoes to be taken in poor lighting conditions. There are 5 flash options, an
1.auto flash- which uses the flash when needed,
2.Red-eye reduction- to stop that evil caught in the headlights look.
3.forced flash.
4.suppressed flash- for taking photo through glass or where distance is to great for the flash to work
5.slow synchro- Uses a slow shutter spead and allows you to take pictures of peoples at night. showing clearly the people and background.
Storing Photos -------------- The FujiFilm FinePix A204 uses the new xD Card to save images. This is new card which has been developed by Fuji and Olympus. The cards are cheaper than flash cards and smartmedia cards. In theory, I read, they have a capability of storing upto 8GB. You can buy these card in 8mb, 16mb, 32mb, 64mb and 128mb capacity. The 128mb card holding around 150-200 fine quality 2MP pictures, and costing around £40+.
SO WHAT ARE YOU SUPPLIED WITH? ------------------------------ The Camera (of course) one 16mb xD Card (20-25 pictures) 2x non-rechargable batteries rist strap USB cable Cd -USB Driver -FinePix viewer -Apple quicktime 5.0 -ImageMixer VCD
I have seen the camera priced on the internet from £160 all the way upto a whopping £240.
One Criticism of the camera, well its not actually camera, is that Fuji do not supply a mains adapter, many people moan that theres no case but you can get a cheap one anywhere, plus take one from an old 35mm film camera. Plus the batteries are not rechargeable.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
(+) Ultra-compact dimensions, fun automatic tools, good performance for the asking price (-) Cluttered menu layout, camera buttons are scarce, specs are almost identical to the Samsung ES15
We have a fuji camera, I think it is a 302, Claire
