The camera- Coming in at around the 180 pound mark the F10 belongs to the mid-range market of digital camera's and offers lots more features than you would expect from this range of camera. It isn't the smallest camera you can get but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in performance and features. The main selling point to this camera is its ability to take fantastic photos even in low light conditions thus eliminating the need to use a flash and allowing your photographs to look more natural (this is probably one of the most important features a lot of professionals would be looking for in a compact digital camera.
The specs-
Resolution-6.3 MEGAPIXELS.
This camera is a respectable 6.3 mega pixels or in English it uses 6.3 million pixels (or dots) to make up the picture on the highest setting. In today's digital market this is not the highest but this is not the only driver of quality so don't just rate a camera on how high its mega pixel rating is.
Super CCD- The CCD (or charged coupled device) is how the camera translates the information coming through the lens into digital format. All digital cameras' have CCD technology and the better the CCD the better the picture quality. Fuji use super CCD which in essence is two CCD devices, a mother CCD which deals with the main information and a baby CCD which deals with the finer information. It's the second CCD or baby which gives this camera better performance for more realistic looking photos. If you see the Super CCD logo on any Fuji camera you can be sure that the photographic realism will be of high quality.
ISO range of 100 to 1600- The ISO rating of a camera signifies its light sensitivity the higher the rating the more sensitive the camera will be to lower light(inside or night photography).It's the higher settings that allow this camera to take photo's in low light conditions without a flash allowing more natural shots to be taken. You can leave this setting on automatic and the camera will choose the best setting dependant on the light conditions or if you want to you can use manual settings and use your knowledge to decide on the best setting (I use the manual setting to get the best performance I can)
Zoom- Optical 3X Digital 6.2X
The optical zoom which is the more important of the two types is pretty standard for this range of camera the lens movement is very smooth and the response is very quick making it a very useful feature. The digital zoom is very powerful but you have to be careful because the more you use digital zoom the more you degrade the quality of the photo (I have found it best not to use more than 3X digital zoom and your quality will not be affected)
Lens- The lens is a high quality glass lens that is fantastic at capturing information; this camera has auto-focus and high definition contrast settings. It also has a macro setting allowing you to take real close-up photo's (50cm or less subject distance).
Display- The display is a LCD display - TFT active matrix - 2.5" - colour.This display looks excellent even in very bright sunshine and displays lots of information making taking those important snaps very easy indeed.
Battery- This is probably one of the most impressive features of this camera. With the included Li-ion rechargeable battery - 1950 mAh you can take up to 500 shots this is nearly twice as many shots that an average digital camera would be able to take. I have taken this camera on a two week holiday and never had to charge it once and I took over 300 shots and spend time reviewing them on the camera itself. The only downside to this is the camera is a little bit larger in size than some other camera's in the same range so you need to decide how important this feature is to you(I personally want my camera to hold a charge for as long as possible)
Movie mode- As with most digital cameras this model has movie mode with sound. The main difference is this camera saves the video in AVI format as opposed to MPEG format that a lot of other manufacturers use. Because of compression features AVI files are smaller in size without losing quality so you can fit more video onto your memory card. The sound quality is really crisp and clear for such a small microphone so quite an impressive feature for a digital camera.
Special features-This camera has four shooting modes which are-Landscape, portrait mode, night scene, sports mode so you can decide which setting best suits your shooting situation. You can also choose to convert your photos to black and white or chrome effects(the black and white feature is really good),The camera also gives you the choice of manual of automatic white balance(sometimes if you take a photo inside you get a yellow tint from lights that ruin the natural look to photos,whitebalnce will keep your photo's looking natural)I personally prefer to use the automatic setting which works well everytime.The camera also supports direct printing allowing you to connect to your printer for fast results, and also supports USB 2.0 for faster file transfer.
Flash- Another advantage of having lots of battery power is that it gives you a powerful flash that has a long range and that's what this camera has. You can choose different flash settings like-Fill-in mode, slow synchro, auto mode, flash OFF mode, red-eye reduction. Once again I tend to only use the flash when I really have to as this camera is really good at taking shots even in very low light conditions.
Memory- This camera u comes with a 16mb XD format media (or memory) card. You will need to buy a larger capacity card eventually but the 32mb will allow you to play around and take some shots directly out of the box. Below is the number of images you should expect to fit on the card supplied
Fine JPEG 2848 x 2136: 5 - with 16MB card (highest setting) Normal JPEG 2848 x 2136: 10 - with 16MB card JPEG 3024 x 2016: 10 - with 16MB card JPEG 2048 x 1536: 19 - with 16MB card JPEG 1600 x 1200: 25 - with 16MB card JPEG 640 x 480: 122 - with 16MB card (lowest setting)
Accessories- With this camera you get a software disk with some Fuji photo management and editing software it is a little bit basic but should be ok to start of with if you have no other software on your PC.You are also supplied with a USB lead for connecting and transferring images to your PC and a s-video lead if you wish to view them on your TV (useful if you don't have a PC) and finally a charging lead for charging the rechargeable battery. You don't receive a case for the camera so you will need to bear this in mind if you intend to take it out and about with you (most camera manufacturers don't include cases)
Ease of use- I found the camera to be very easy to use as you can just use the automatic settings and the camera will do all the work for you making this an ideal point and shoot camera or for use by novices who don't like to mess around with advanced settings. For the more advanced user there are more than enough settings to adjust and the results from this camera are fantastic from both novice and advanced users.
Build quality- The camera has a high quality feel with a metal case that feels smooth and also offers lots of protection should you accidentally drop it. The edges are rounded which make the camera very comfortable to hold and use.
Summary- Not the smallest of camera's but loads of features fantastic performance and long battery life make this camera a must buy on anybodies shopping list.

The Fujifilm Finepix F10 Zoom camera has a comprehensive ISO sensitivity range from ISO 80 to ISO 1600, in all resolutions, coupled with Real Photo Processor to the 6.3 mega pixel Super CCD to reduce both the problems of camera shake and subject movement, and is comprised of light absorbing octagonal photodiodes, which is more efficiently than conventional CCD architecture. The navigation through the menu ... ...gives access to, Auto, Scene Position, Manual and Movie and the directional control pad is very user friendly. The screen fonts and option terms are easy enough for the beginner (that will be me then) to understand, Portrait, Landscape and Night-time. There are also plenty of options for the more experienced who want great control over their shots with manual settings.

This camera is one of the best impulse buys i've ever made. Its low light capability is exceptional - beating even my Sony R1, which cost nearly 4 times the price! The response of the camera is instantanious. I've never used a camera which responds so quickly. The only thing that slows it down is focus time - but thats the same with all compact cameras. The overall quality of the photos are very good. Though it does occasionally suffer from blue/purple ... ...backgrounds are blue/purple. Also, theres a bit of barrel distortion when on wide angle though most compacts suffer from this. For most people these aren't an issue but i sell my photos online and such photos aren't accepted.
The movie mode is excellent. At 640x480 pixels the quality is very sharp and will look good on your TV - cables included. I'd suggest buying a 512MB (170 highest quality still pics) or more if you'll be using it for movies ...

I had a fairly clear and rigid set of requirements from the camera I was seeking to by and I'm happy to say I've more than found what I was after. The requirements were as follows : Compact,good optical zoom,good battery life,the best quality image in a variety of conditions and ease of use. In short a lightweight ,portable camera that allowed me to take "proper" shots rather than snapshots at any time i.e. a camera in my pocket ready to shoot -holidays,social ... ...lug a "full size" camera and accessories around - flexibilty with minimum compromise.
The f10 is that camera.I won't list all the specs as they can be easily gleaned from the Fuji website or the sites of distributors.Importantly though I can report this camera lives up to the hype - images are crystal clear,colours good with minimal loss of quality in low light . ...camera (and true of all Fujifilm cameras). With XD cards selling at over twice the price of SD and other formats it can make life a bit more expensive.
Having now uploaded and reviewed the 10,000+ pics I took over the last year I have to say I'm delighted overall with the resuts. The picture quality is high and prints very nicely, the images are sharp and clear and I'm delighted the camera stood the test of time. So the pros, the picture quality ... ...super long battery life (even after a year I was still getting a great chrage from it!).
and the neagtives, in some low light situations it can be a problem but manual settings can help, and the annoyingly expensive XD cards. Overall I'd have to recommend this camera to anyone. Its been brilliant and used consistantly every day for the year. Its not perfect by any means and it doesnt look snazzy but it'll do a great job if a great job needs doing. ...

Bought one of these as I wanted something that would work well indoors without the flash, and this has more than lived up to expectations. Picture quality is supberb. Low light pictures are excellent as long as you have somewhere stable to rest it whilst you're clicking. Claims to go up to 1600 ASA, but I've only managed to get it up to 800 so far - must read the hefty manual.
Small enough to fit into a shirt pocket, and the auto setting will cope ... ...want ot get complicated. With a 512K card you get around 300 high res pics.
Downloading is slighly fiddly, requiring use of the multipurpose charger. Battery life is incredible, it seems to last for weeks!
Took it on holiday last year and only had to charge it once.
Excellent optical zoom as well.
Well made, with a solid ally body which is easy to hold.
Only drawback is as it only has a screen (no viewfinder), it can be virtually impossible ...

The FujiFinePixF70EXR is billed by the manufacturer as the slimmest 10x zoom camera on the market and, at less than 23mm in depth, it is certainly very easy and convenient to carry around. The zoom is great for magnification, being the equivalent of 27-270mm in 35mm terms, but I found it to be a little fuzzy at the long end. There is also a 4x digital zoom for anyone who wants it.
The FinePixF-series cameras are renowned for their low-light (high ISO) capabilities and the F70EXR should be no exception, sharing as it does the 1/2 inch sensor of the F200EXR but with 2 million fewer pixels crammed onto it. Also the EXR technology is great for combating noise on higher ISO shots.
