This a fantastic camera for beginners who wish to start taking more serious photos, but aren't ready for the comminment of the more high tech digital SLRs, or who can't afford one. It's a great camera for holidays, as it's more powerful than a compact, but not as chunky as most of the digital SLRs, so it's easy to carry round and take great scenery shots, but also takes fantastic great party shots! The optical zoom is great, and the digital zoom is powerful enough to withstand excessive editing on a digital kiosk! It's also very reasonably priced, and most camera shops will sell it as part of a package deal, with a case, memory card and an overnight battery charger. This is definately a fantastic little camera!
