...convince me to buy the Fujifilm FinePix S5000 digital camera - because it not only has a 10x optical zoom, it also has a 2.2x digital zoom, which (if you know your maths) will tell you that this camera can zoom up to a whopping 22x! Uh, huh, you read me right - 22 times! Stick that into your pixels and mega it, baby! Of course, if the rest of the camera wasn't also good, I wouldn't be able to tell you more, so here goes.

At the time of writing this review, Pricerunner.co.uk only found one retailer selling this camera and that was at That Camera Place and they have this camera in stock and are selling it (delivered) for £305.99. This camera has been replaced by newer models but you can still find them on Ebay - I found them there going for £70-£100 - or reconditioned from your local camera shop, which ...

Advantages: good price for what you get Disadvantages: what do I do with my old camera
Ok, those of you who read my earlier review on my Fuji Finepix camera will be wondering - what does he do with all these cameras?
Simple answer - I use them to take photos!
But why buy yet another camera only a year after the last one?
I wanted a better model basically. I wanted something with a few more bells and whistles. I certainly got that! And I still haven't figured out how to and when to use all the features - looks like some photography ... ...rambling - more focussed (yep - pun intended) rambling coming up!
So what did I get in the box?

Fuji 16mb XD Card
Lens adapter ring
Lens cap
4 x AA batteries
Fuji FinePix software v4.0 - CDROM
A/V cable

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, easy to use, great looks, 10x optical zoom Disadvantages: Night shot, insufficient flash.
After a research backed search of more then 3 months, I finally settled down to buy the Fuji Finepix S 5000 obviously bowled by it's features and picture quality.
I have been using my Canon EOS 88 SLR for a little more than two years now.
Many a time, I had withheld myself from taking a few more pictures which I thought would be good, just because I wanted to save the roll for the main events. That's when I started hunting for the digital camera. ... ...355E with option to take digital pictures. However, the resolution was just 800,000 pixels and picture quality was good but not to my expectations. That's when I decided I needed to get a Mega pixel (higher resolution) camera.
I first completed my research on the pixel quality keeping in mind what kind of prints I would take if at all I got the photos printed. That showed that I needed to buy atleast a 2 megapixel camera. I then equated the zoom ...

After much market searching and comparing products, I finally decided on the FinePix S5000, as it seemed to me to be the best value for money 10x Optical zoom Digital camera on the market. I bought this camera from a relative in 2004 with the idea of using it for taking family and holiday snaps but soon realised that this camera is able to produce high quality shots too. I take it everywhere with me. Excellent for all new to photography.
Advantages: Lightweight, Very Powerful, RAW function Camera with digital and optical zooms. Top camera Disadvantages: Needs specialist software to edit RAW images. Only 16mb XD card supplied
.../night to name a few. You can even use the Automatic mode also, which used with the automatic focus produces virtually the same quality of results as setting the camera up manually.
It does not claim to be a true SLR camera, but I have been unable to find an SLR camera which for the price range that the FujifilmFinePixS5000 camera goes for, produces photos anywhere near the quality that it does.
Even the video function producing 300x200 video is excellent quality, from which individual screen shots of good quality can be taken.
Weighing in at under half a kilo (1 lb) including batteries, you are not coming to find one much lighter either.
I picked my second hand camera in excellent condition with all the accessories, including 2300mh batteries and charger for £150, and similar bargains can be found all over the internet.

To add on to this review as it is my first and I will eventually get the hang of this, the price I paid was £249-99. I would highly recommend when you buy this camera to buy two sets of rechargeable batteries and obviously a charger. The batteries last on the whole between 100-200 photos depending on what functions you are using i.e zoom and flash....
