I bought this camera for Christmas as I wanted something which would give me a feeling of control over my pictures, yet was within an affordable price range and was easy to use as a point-and-shoot if I was in a hurry.
The fujifilm finepix SD5700 does all of the above, and even delivers better results than I expected. The zoom lens is fantastic and a welcome, unexpected feature of an amateur camera such as this. It is definitely worth looking at if you are an enthusiast on a budget, or a beginner looking for a way to increase your photography skills.
While there is no way to change the lens for another, this actually hides another benefit - it is impossible to get dust inside the camera. And with the versatility of the zoom, you wouldn't really want to add anything extra.
The weight of the camera was satisfying enough to give me confidence in it, yet it is neither awkward or bulky, and I found the design of it easy and pleasant to hold.
The camera has an internal memory, which is handy if you forget the memory card, however it does get filled fairly quickly. I haven't tried transferring images to my PC via the data lead as I found the memory card to be the quickest and easiest way of storing my photos.
A feature I really love is the "Rule of Thirds" guide you can have appear on the screen as you compose your shot. I have found this has been helpful when trying to do it from my head. You can also turn this off.
Another favourite thing about this camera is the natural light mode, which will capture a scene almost exactly as it appears, with the minimum of graininess, and the natural light/flash mode is also helpful, especially for self-timed shots, as it takes 2 photographs immediately after each other so you can see whether flash or natural light is better. I find this invaluable for helping me to gauge whether I need a flash or not.
Overall, if you want a little bit more than a point-and-shoot, or if you're interested in learning more about photography, you can't go wrong with this camera, especially for the price. I would reccomend getting a good memory card and case for it too.

Advantages: Great image quality, easy to use and lots of usefull features to use. Disadvantages: Cannot attach external lenses or flashes, no RAW format.
