Purchased the pro version for my birthday last year. I had found an excellent deal - i managed to get the pro version for £30 more than the standard one.
Basically this is a 3megapixal camera which interpolates to 6 megapixal. In fairness this does not offer the image quality at 6mp of a true 6pm camera. however its very close to it.
Boot up times are very quick, loading in around 3 seconds.
The pro version adds the following features:
Studio flash socket 340mb microdrive (somehow I had a 512mb micro drive - no complants there as they are around £80.00 a piece!). Cable release thread
All in all the only reason for the average user to go for the pro version is the bargin of a cheap IBM microdrive (the standard and pro versions also come with a 16mb smart media card - ok but at best resolution you can't fit even one image on it!).
The camera feels like a proper SLR camera, it takes excellent images (well - that depends largely on the user i suppose!)
The box also includes (this is for the pro verison):
16mb smartmedia card 340mb ibm microdrive (i received a 512mb version!) 4 aa alkaline batteries 4 ni-mh aa batteries and charger
The camera can do the following:
3.1m pixels with the 3rd gen super ccd chip giving 6m recorded pixels
640x480 vga res 30fps movie recorder (up to around 5 mins on the microdrive).
29 photos on 6mp and high quality 4094 on vga quality 419 on 3.1mp and fine quality
There are many more different options to choose from. This is the high, low and middle range of options
zoom is 35 - 210mm ( you can also buy a telephone add on lens and a wide angle add on lens for around £80.00 a piece).
Overall this is a superb camera with excellent picture quality. I mostly do macro shots - this camera will focus on an object 1cm away - which cannot be beaten at this price (infact i suspect it puts most low end SLR's to shame!) The only issue with this camera is the steep learning curve and the fact you can get the new fujifilm s5000 and s7000 which use a 4th gen ccd!
