Advantages Advantages Zoom, macro, focusing, OSD, manual, packed with features, price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Flash sometimes pop's up when you don't expect

I bought this camera after looking at the options of sub £200 digital cameras. I was surprised not only be low-cost of this piece of kit, but the sheer quality of the product too. You know the expression "you get what you pay for..." ? With this, you get more than you pay for. Despite this only be a 6.3 Mega-pixel camera, the x10 zoom (plus x2 digital zoom) is a must have, especially as the resolution of the images is still good enough to print at A4. This camera looks and feels professional enough for most people. It may not have the same weight and resolution as a top-end Nixon, but hey ... more

Advantages Advantages Well priced, Good geatures

I have had a Fujifilm S3000 digital compact for many years and it is still in good working order but on a recent holiday I noticed its short comings in terms of low light shooting and the lag between pressing the shutter button and the image being taken. So I sought about looking to upgrade, I wanted a Fuji as I like the reliability and interface but didn't want to pay a fortune so eventually I settled on the 5600fd (I had considered the 9600 but this was a little to pricey for me) and the 6 Mega Pixels of the 5600 is more than enough. The 5600fd (face detection) looks like a digital SLR ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent all round styling and quality, can alter zoom while shooting video

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

The Fuji Finepix S6500fd is possibly the best camera you can blag for under £160 (excluding important accessories like bigger memory card + some high capacity rechargeable batteries). I'd been drooling over this camera since I first saw the review of it @ Steves-digicams.com earlier this year (sold in the USA as the S6000fd), as it's styled similar to a traditional SLR camera, and a damn good looking one at that. Upon recieving it in the mail from Amazon.co.uk on 30th August '07, my drooling certainly wasn't in vain, and I was far from disappointed. The casing is made from high quality black ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy of use for automatic modes, price, quality of images.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small grip, awkward battery compartment, lack of RAW format compatability, average manual.

The Fujifilm FinePix S6500fd is an excellent 'bridge' camera for those wishing to move up from the traditional compact type. Whilst lacking in some of the features you find on the more expensive Digital SLRs, this camera produces excellent quality photographs at A4 print quality, and extremely easily too in automatic mode and when using the excellent face detection mode. With this money you are never going to get the flexibility of cameras such as the Canon EOS 400D with its interchangeable lenses, optional flash guns and remote shutter releases, however what you do get is an integrated, and ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality, build and ease of use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Fixed LCD monitor

Fujifilm's high-spec semi-pro series, the Finepix S6500fd fits nicely in to Fujifilms range between the slightly higher spec S9500 and the lower spec S5600. It actually has many of the features of the S9500 including the f2.8-f4.9, 10.7x optical zoom lens and if truth be known, is not far off being the same price, the same size and the same weight as the S9500. The S6500 is supposed to be the lower-spec camera, so it lacks a few of the S9500's features. It only has a 6.3-megapixel SuperCCD HR sensor, compared to a 9.0-megapixel sensor. The 2.5in, 235,000 pixel LCD monitor is bigger and sharper ... more

    XD card slot - adaptor?

Hi. I'm wondering if the S6500fd would take a SD / MMC to Compact Flash II Adapter? I know the camera uses XD cards but wondering if it's possible for it to use SD cards via the adaptor? Hoping someone can help.
