For years I’ve always wanted an SLR, I do love taking pictures, however I have never gone to enough places to take gorgeous pictures before, so have always put off against buying it. However as some of you know, I’m going to University in September to study media production, which includes...

ProEasy to use, very professional

ConsLots of features which I am yet unsure of

I love taking photo's of everything and everyone in my life that means something to me whilst at the same time taking pictures of random images which stand out to me. I can be sat on a bus, walking in the park or merely out shopping and if I see something I like the look of that would take a good...

ProLots of useful features, easy to use

ConsLong shutter delay

My previous camera was a Fuji finepix A101, and has been an absolutely fantastic little camera. I took some fantastic photos of my beautiful little girl with it, but couldn't enlarge them because it only has 1.3 mega pixels! When looking for a new camera, I only looked at fuji finepix because I...

This is a good quality camera. It is reasonably priced, I paid about £150 for mine. The camera is easy to use due to the rotating switch on the top for the modes. The zoom switch is in an easy to reach position. Due to the size and weight of the camera it is easy to carry with a strap and also a...

ProHuge Zoom, Great Picture quality, easy to use

ConsA bit heavy, price

This is a great camera it is 8.0MP although this is not as much as some cameras you could buy that cost less, it makes up for this in the quality you get. The colours are very realistic and captures the depth and true light recreated. There are several settings for different locations and...

ConsNothing Really just poor sound on video recording

I only got this in August as a replacement for my brilliant but ageing Konica Minolta Z2 (4Mp 10X Optical zoom). The camera is fantastic, it feels weighty, solid and balanced, the grip is ideal and everything is within easy reach. On one Saturday night I took over 350 photos with this and over...

The S8000fd places a smaller sensor behind a much longer-range zoom lens in a less SLR-like body. Going head to head with the Panasonic FZ18 and Olympus SP560UZ the S8000fd is Fuji's most ambitious zoom compact to date. It is also the first long-zoom camera from Fuji to offer image stabilization (in this case a CCD-shake system), which is offered by most competing brands and is pretty much essential with a zoom this long. The S8000fd packs an awful lot into its compact body, and seems to be trying pretty hard to be all things to all people, with manual exposure controls sitting alongside point-and-shoot convenience features such as face detection. There is a high-speed shooting mode (at reduced resolution), and some extremely high sensitivity modes (again at lower resolution), for shooting in low light.

This new camera is my 3rd Fuji in 8 years. It follows a similar format to my others and despite the vaste range of features it really was easy to get started. The software hooks into windows XP proffessional easily and the printed results on my epsom R360 are the best ever. All the extra features show promise and it really has the feel and performance of a traditional SLR. The lens with optical zoom is most impressive and good for all situations - point and shoot or enthusiastic amateur.

ProBuild quality, decent optics, settings

ConsNot the most compact of compacts

If you're looking for a cut above your normal point and shoot compact then this is probably for you. I had one for six months and never regretted owning it. A bit bigger than the average compact it lets you decide how creative you want to be, plenty of settings for you to play with if thats your...

ProResolution, great zoom, easy to handle

Consbulky awkward design

On the whole the camera is a bit bulky, however all your misgivings vanish once you switch it on. From the seemingly infinite zoom to the amazing 8 MPix resolution you can almost feel the surfaces of objects in the viewfinder, surface glare is reduced so that your shots don't get "whiteout" and...
