I bought this camera as my move up from the standard digital compact which most people have now days. I started taking photography slightly more serious and felt that in order to expand beyond the limits of the \'auto\' mode found on most cameras i needed to find myself something i could alter and manipulate to work the way i wanted. I searched and played around with a number of cameras, compacts and SLR\'s but i eventually ended up with the s9600. The price is outstanding and its certainly worth while, the quality if superior to anything ive witnessed for that price and the fact is. You get all that SLR quality in this camera for the price of a mere compact.
I would advise this to anyone, whether your a total novice who just wants to snap all day long or the more professional photographer i certainly will hold my word that you will not find anything quite like this camera for the price. Its totally adaptable to any situation and you can still buy all the lens caps to get such effects as the \'fish eye\' lens and filters also. Another great feature about this camera is the memory card slot, you have 2 slots, an XD and a Compact Flash. So this is very handy in many ways. Its saved me money, time, and its just so convient to have two memory cards in the camera at once! You just switch between the two in the menu.
One small word of warning, the buttons do seem layed out poorly but after a week or so you will find this is certainly not the case, infact it is to give you complete control in the fastest and easiest way possible. You can click away changing all your settings without taking your eye of the view finder.
This camera has been thought about through and through. It surpassed all my expectations and hopes!
