i have owned this camera for two years now, and it has been, done and seen some amazing things... it truly is very durable, but mine is on the end of its tether!.
the best feature of this camera is its easy, slide, point, shoot, slide. as in this is all you have to do when taking the picture, making it ideal in situaitons where there is a high risk of it being dropped, camera lens scrathched etc.....in my experience this situation is a clubbing situaiton. now normally i would have to common sense to leave a lush camera such as this behind but it really does impress, and keeps going well into the night, longer than you can.
the main reasons for this capability towards such an environment is its sturdy design and its protective cover. most of the shots from the camera have been brilliant- capturing great detail during movements, however the flash is a little enthusicastic- coming on when there is quite a bit of light and its sharp on the eyes, + picasa was needed to sort out a bit of red eye due to the flash. but the pictures are brilliant, yes there are much higher mp's out there, but this one is really good, and there is also the option of reducing the m.p... if there is need for more pictures on a small card.... the quality is fantastic still. the size of the unit is aslo brill, this ace machine is as big as a normal phone, so it doesnt stick out of you trousers and you not asked if thats a gun in your pocket!
the screen has actually been a great help... in a club, youve jsut taken a picture of your mates, bam with one click of the play button they can see it and tell you if they like it... it has proved really usefull. any smaller and people may be struggling to see the pic. any bigger and it wouldnt be very energy efficient
to be honest, the imaging software that came with my camera hasnt been used... i cant find a reason to use it.... picasa and file explorer are all i need and theres no need to add yet another program for the sake of it. others may disagree

Finally a really compact 5.1 megapixels digital camera by my favorite digital cameras maker, Fujifilm.
It was about time for Fuji to answer to Sony's T series of compact cameras. For the last year I'd been using a Sony T1, prioritizing compactness over image quality.
The biggest advantage of the Z1 over the Sony T1, is the ISO sensitivity (800 for Z1, 400 for T1). Taking pictures even with really low lighting, still results excellent quality of ... ...these compact digital cameras have a very weak flash, higher sensitivity is a requirement for anybody who wishes to take decent quality pictures anytime of the day.
Z1's large 2.5" screen has a lower density of pixels compared to the Sony's equivalent digital cameras series, according to the specification papers, but this is nothing really noticeable.
The Z1 has plenty of preprogrammed modes and settings to play around with, an impressive 17x total ...

Advantages: Good Battery Life. Big screen, Light, Non Bulky Disadvantages: Not the cheapest of cameras
As a student, i needed a camera that would fufill my needs. A light, non technical camera with a good zoom and not too bulky.
I had been searching for a camera for months and initially, my ideal was to buy a camera with a big screen as to me they are much easier to use. So yes, my first impression had to be that the camera is aesthetically pleasing..sorry not one of those "technical" people.
Upon buying the camera i found it to suit all my needs. ... ...wider and about 3/4 of an inch thick. Easy to carry around but i advise you to buy a carry case for it as it does have a large surface area screen to scratch. I was amazed at how good the zoom was. I found that whilst on holiday we had to share somebodies map, trouble was they were going a different direction. Managed with this camera to take a picture of the whole map and then when we needed to see different towns, the zoom was amazing to see all ...

This is a great "aim & shoot" camera, exactly what you need if you're not a camera buff but want a small quality camera for everyday use. It's compact and tidy and stylish to boot! The FinePix Z1 is easy to use and boasts both camera and video functions. The video function picks up great sound, ideal for capturing your little one's first words and other memorable occasions, though the length can be limiting (about a minute and a half on a 128MB memory ...

I have had a SONY DSC 3.2 MP camera for several years - although small, it was still too bulky in your pocket. I also use a Nikon D70 dig. SLR - so why get a Z1? Well I needed a very small camera when I didn't have the SLR. This is the answer the Z1. 3X optical zoom, rapid start up - as soon as you slide the cover you are ready to shoot. Very fast between pictures - no waiting for things to reset. Good in low light conditions - the Z1 has a selection ... ...is very easy to use and cool to look at too. It is 5MP quality, high frame rate movie mode, very well built. It takes XD memory cards and has a rechargable cell with very good battery life. It comes with a docking station cradle that you have to use to recharge the battery and connect the Z1 to your PC. I compared it the Nikon and Sony equivalents and decided on the Z1 - they all have very similar specs.... but the macro on the Z1 was also excellent. ...

This is an excellent option if you're looking for a small camera. I had a "SLR" type Fuji previously but found it too big to just take around with you. The Z1 is almost as good (zoom not quite deep enough for distant objects) as my older one that cost £600+.
When turning the camera on it immediately is ready for action as opposed to waiting several seconds.
The features are extensive but can be a bit confusing - there's 4 different flash options ... ...an Auto feature for the technically challenged.
There's no view finder through which to take the photo's, instead you use the LCD which is large, in comparison to the camera, and very clear.
The application that comes with it, FinePIX, is also easy to use.
You will need to buy a new case as the one it comes with is too small and it's difficult to take out once it's in. ...
