Funky looking little waterproof camera

I have a Sony camera which gives me brilliant quality pictures but I was going to Thailand on holiday for two weeks and I wanted a camera that I could take to the beach with me without having to worry about it getting wet or damaged. Now I didn't want to spend a fortune on a camera as I already have a good one so I did some browsing on Amazon and found the Fuji Film Z33WP for the bargain price of 88 pounds so I decided to but it for my holiday.

The camera comes in a variety of different vivid colours such as bright pink and gold but I decided on the green. When the camera arrived I was pleasantly surprised by how attractive it was, I was expecting it to be pretty big and bulky from the pictures but this was a tiny gorgeous looking camera and the green colour was beautiful and just as vivid as the picture had made it seem. I was really pleased with the look and size of it and it would fit in the pocket of my shorts with no problem and since it looked so good I would be able to take it out to restaurants and bars with me in my jeans pocket also.
It has a metal case and on the back of it the buttons are made from rubber and it has a 2.7 inch screen so is perfect for viewing the pictures you have taken.

The camera has an internal memory of 50mb so not much for storing pictures so you will need to buy a memory card separately. This is pretty normal for most cameras though so wasn't a problem for me. The camera uses SDHC cards which are available in a variety of sizes and I purchased an 8gb one which is enough to store around about 1500 photos on it so more than enough for anyone.

Now as gorgeous as the camera is the reason I bought it was to document my trip to Thailand and its waterproof capabilities and this is where the camera let me down. It is a 10 mp camera and to be honest im not really sure what all this means but when viewed side by side with pictures taken from my Sony camera the Fujifilm couldn't compete with the clarity of the Sony. The pictures were perfectly adequate and I wouldn't say they were bad by any means but they lacked crispness. I used the camera a lot in the water and this is where this camera excelled. It was so good being able to take the camera in the sea and I got so many good pictures that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. I even took the camera snorkeling with me so it was in the water a long time and I never had any problems with it. The manufacturers say it is waterproof to a depth of ten meters and while I can't say if this is true for the normal person who will be using it at the beach it works perfectly. I also used the video mode in the water and was extremely pleased with this function of it.

I did have couple of issues with the camera other than the picture quality such as the fact the lens doesn't have a cover. Now for a camera that is going to be taken to the beach where sand may scratch it this seemed like a pretty bad design flaw in my opinion. Also the zoom buttons are in a really awkward position and my fingers kept sliding off them. These are only minor problems though and wouldn't detract me from recommending the camera. There are no doubt much better waterproof cameras available but certainly not for the price of this one and in my opinion for 88 pounds it is a complete bargain and anyone thinking of buying a waterproof camera for their holidays should definitely think about getting this one.
