Identical in size to a CompactFlash, Microdrives are miniature hard disc drives that are suitable for highly mobile applications such as, digital photography, MP3 players, and portable digital assistants.
Advantages: Fast, Tiney Physical Size, Decent storage for price Disadvantages: Not as wide spread as SD + Compact Flash
...The Fujifilm XD Picture Card (128mb) is a very small (aprox 1.5cm) Memory card used in most Fujifilm cameras.
It was developed jointly between Fujifilm and Olympus to create the worlds smallest and very fast memory card, which Fuji dropped into their camera's to promote them.
The XD picture cards have had an update in recent months where they got even faster, and can be distinguished from the older models by their blue writing (there are 2 versions of XD card, normal and fast) the older card is black with gold writing.
The card i bought (128mb) holds enough for small cameras (1-3mpx) but anything over that its a struggle to squeeze all your images onto it, i get on average 30-50 images before i have to dump my memory onto a harddrive (at 6mpx).
Price when it was released was around £50 (which unfortunately i paid) you can get 1GB...

Advantages: Frees up the camera for further use. Disadvantages: PC needs extra software
...The Smart Media card is on of the storage formats used by digital cameras. Since these cards are removable, they can be regarded as a kind of re-recordable "film".
The number of pictures that can be stored on each depends on two things. The memory capacity of the card (how many Megabytes) and the definition picture quality) at which your are recording. E.G. an 8 MB card should be able to record about 24 pictures of about 640*480 pixels, i.e. VGA quality.
Most digital cameras can be connected to your PC for the purpose of downloading pictures. In my experience, this coincides with the camera's batteries being flat, because, you guessed it, you have been out taking pictures!
A useful gadget to have in the Fuji FlashPath adapter - this is built to go in your floppy disk drive, and acts as a carrier for a SmartMedia card.
A small...

'x'tra with xD Review ofFujifilm xD-Picture Card 64MBby

Advantages: Cheaper than certain SD/Memorystick cards of same price. Disadvantages: Compatibility
...18MB using my photo printer.
Cameras seem to be able to save images in a second onto the card, and 60second AVIs in around 30secs,
///I haven't got a stop watch out for any of these ESTIMATE times///
~Why xD~
xD is used in most Fujifilm camera's, some Olympus ones and some card readers/MP3 players.
xD cards are also one of smallest memory cards, light, square with a round top, slim and rather tough. Fujifilm ones are very 'nice' looking, black, a gold xD logo and a white Fujifilm logo. Still it's not as though you're going to be wearing them as jewellery so you probably don't care.
~Why not xD~
Like Memorystick, XD is a growing format, but less popular. You'll probably have to pay EXTRA to get a card reader that can read xD. This may be inconvient as you might not be able to swap this card with your friends.
However, my HP photo...

This is the latest digita camera I have and I must say this is a very good camera. The best feature of this camera is definitely the lens, which offers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27-486mm, which allows both wide angle shooting and also extreme... more

IMAGE QUALITY: It does have good points however. 7.2 Megapixels isn't bad for the price. The Optical Zoom is a slightly below-average 3x, with a respectable 4.8 Digital Zoom. Most features, however, are only standard - nothing unusual. This... more
