...I have a Fuji Finepix 2400 digital camera which uses smartmedia. The camera came with a 8MB card which would only hold 30 photos on full resolution sso I decided to order an additional card. I purchased an original Fuji32MBSmartmedia card by mail order from Insight. I still found that it was a little restrictive. If you go on holiday for two weeks to somewhere new it's nice to shoot away - especially when film and developing is not a consideration anymore. So I hunted around and found that my local PC dealer in Nottingham could supply me a non-branded 64MB card for the same price as the 32MB branded Fuji version. It's made by Dane-elec and has a 10 year warranty! Half the price of Fuji and it works fine....

<< Conclusion >>
This camera has proved to be a lovely little device, giving me some excellent shots. It is easy to use for the novice with some good additional features for an intermediate / Advanced user, once you have got used to the menu system. For a happy snapper like me it has definitely nailed down the coffin lid for the 35mm compact camera, however I still love my Fuji APS. As I said at the start of this opinion...

Advantages: Easy to use and versatile Disadvantages: No provision for lens filters
...images and do not forget that deletion of these images from the memory card within the camera also relies totally on the batteries.
I paid £265 for the camera from Dixon’s; Included within the price was a Fuji add on kit comprising a Uniross external battery charger with four Ni-MH batteries and a 32MB xD memory card. Argos was selling the same camera at the time (3 months ago) minus the kit for £279 so I was happy with the deal at the time. I did find it on line for £240 but I still do not like buying items like this on line.
At the end of the day I do like this pretty little silver camera. It will never replace my beloved Pentax SLR’s but it has a place. Its small, it fits easily in a shirt top pocket, its light (Just over 5 ounces minus the batteries) and it is intuitive to use, put it in the auto mode which is the default setting, point...

Advantages: Very good all round package Disadvantages: Cheaper to buy the Fuji MX 1700
...This is a complete clone of the Fuji MX1700 it has all the same buttons and the same accessories except the case.
Its a very good 1.5 mega pixel camera with easy to use comprehensive features, It comes with everything you need accept a case which Leica charge extra for. I do not think you can buy this new any more but as a second it would be agood buy.
The Leica is supplied with PhotoShop 5 LE which makes it nice to have just for that. The camera uses SmartMedia 8MB which is upgradable if need be. Its macro is very good too with a shooting distance of 10cm.
This is the same as the Fuji 1700 so read my review of that and this camera has all those qualities but you will need to buy that case....

...This camera produces excellent pictures, the quality of the colours is superb and the viewfinder display is first class. This camera is ideal for someone who wants to produce top quality images. It has got lots of different features including 16Mb of SmartMedia memory, 3XOptical zoom, 3.75XDigital zoom. It is small, compact and straightforward to operate. For me the only disadvantage is the cost at around nearly £600, it is quite a bit more expensive than say the Canon Digital Ixus. In my view it is still worth paying more for this camera if you are seeking top class results....

When i opened the box for my Fuji S5800 camera about a month ago, I knew that I had made a good choice for my second camera. I still have my Pentax Optio S7 but I wanted a camera that would allow me much more creativity with my photos.

IMAGE QUALITY: It does have good points however. 7.2 Megapixels isn't bad for the price. The Optical Zoom is a slightly below-average 3x, with a respectable 4.8 Digital Zoom. Most features, however, are only standard - nothing unusual. This... more
