These cards are 2Gb XD memory cards made by Fujifilm, they are the latest in the line of a new storage system. XD stands for eXtreme Digital, the cards are made for digital cameras, plus other devices like digital voice recorders.

The cost of these is very competitive, you can buy them for about £22 online. Remember though, this is plus P&P of course. You can buy them on the high street as well of course, but at a much higher price. They are often described as "Postage stamp" size cards. The size is 20 mm x 25 mm x 1.78 mm, and each card weighs 2.8 grams.

You also have the option of going for non branded cards, although I would not use anything but original cards in my camera. You then are safe in the knowledge, that you have the genuine item, and your warranty is still valid.

There are two types of these XD cards, M and H type. They each have a slightly different method of digitally encoding, but that does not concern us, they are completely interchangable as well as being compatable with each other.

The transfer rate on these cards is about 5mb per second. They are ready to use, you won't need to format them, like you have to with the Tomtom.

They are coloured black, I think it's a bit of a shame they aren't some vivid colour like hi-vis yellow, because if you drop a card outdoors, you may never find it. They do come in a protective case, which is a good thing.

I have never had a problem with these cards, in my humble opinion, these are one of the better makes. Most items like cameras tend to come with a small card to start you off, but you soon want to upgrade to a larger one. There is no instruction manual as you will not need one.

You can download your images to your PC, or take the card into your local Max Spielman's, and have them printed while you wait. You could of course, send the cards through the post, to someone who may not even have a PC, they can then go to Spielman's & choose which pics they want.

The company has a website with some nice info, and also some nice graphics, see here.:-
