Fujitsu Siemens AMILO D-7830 - P4 2.66 GHz - 15" TFT

The laptop is freally ast and has a reasonable amount of memory. The only problem with it is that after a while, the screen becomes stiff and the connection loosens so the screen begins to turn itself off. I have had a number of problems with this laptop over the past 3 years. Though i have found it to be fast and easy to use.

Advantages: Fast (with memory upgrade), good monitor
Disadvantages: Lousy battery, not robust enough for travel use. heavy

We bought this model since we were on a budget. My wife needed a laptop for her univeristy studies, I travel from time to time and needed to be able to work (Excel, Powerpoint) and see DVD´s etc. I knew Fujistu-Siemens to be relable computers, having a SCALEO destop at home. Advantages: user -friendly keyboard, large memory
Disadvantages: Heavy, noisy and cumbersome

I purchased this product believing Fuji to have a good reputation, but I was in for a rude awakening. At first, after opening the parcel and investigating the laptop, I was impressed with the large 60GB HD and 512RAM, and the large user-friendly keyboard. There is about 6" of space in front of the keys to rest your palms on and typing is a doddle. There are also 5 USB ports, and a combined CD/DVD RW. ...I tried connecting to my home WLAN and after many problems, I was informed by an engineer that the PCM/CIA slot was faulty and we tried 3 different cards. I tried to resolve this by contacting my supplier, but when I tell you that I purchased it from Dabs.com you will no doubt understand why 3 months after purchase I am still stuck with a faulty machine.(How I wish I had found this review site earlier!)
