Another big point to make about this laptop is the RAM as it says it comes with 256mb, which yes it does however 64mb of this is used up for the video card which is pre installed ... ...a 20gb hard drive which isn't very good by todays standards, so if you do buy this then get an external hard drive. The processor speed isn't to bad at 1.5 GHz, which is surprising considering the other attributes. I personally have no problem what so ever with the sound card as i have never had any sort of problem with it. The display type of this laptop is 15" TFT active matrix, and the maximum resolution is 1024 x 768 ( XGA ) but unfortunately ... more

I think the battery life on this laptop is very good as if you set it to max battery then you can get about 3 and a half hours out of it. It comes with a 1 year warranty which is always good. Overall i think this laptop is great for basic applications but just don't try and use it for anything too complicated!
Advantages: Very affordable and understaderble. Disadvantages: DVD Rewriter would have been nice.
This was my first laptop, i needed something that i could work on durring my degree course away from the kids. As the desk top P.C. had more games on it than anything else I thought i should upgrade myself, and i dont think i will ever look back.
It's a FUJITSU SIEMENS AMILOL7300 and as i have always like siemens products i was attracted to this laptop stright away, and what a bonus to get it for £400.
I bought mine from COMET in Oxford about eight months ago and have since seen them in other shops such as CURRYS and TESCO and they are also going for around the £400 mark.
OK heres some of the tekkie stuff for those out there that understand it:
Processor - Intelceleron M with 1.3 GHz or 1.4 GHz or 1.5 GHz
Main Memory - 1 Gbyte DDR333 SO DIMM (PC2700) Plus 2 slots free for extension
Disk Drives - 1 hard disk and 1 CD/DVD drive ...
Advantages: bright screen, lightweight Disadvantages: slow to load, bad graphics, overheats stalls/crashed often
I have had this laptop since its release and in my opinion, it is not worth the money. I spent £450 on mine form woolworths and would recomend shopping around a bit, especially if you plan on using you're laptop everyday and for large programs. I mainly use mines for programs such as photoshop which the amilo is slow to load and crashes if i try to run the internet at the same time. I;ve also had problems with it overheating then cutting out if i've been using it for a few hours. I was using a dell for a while and the difference was unbeliveable. Good for a leaner or child as it is really easy to use and navigation is easy, also the screen is brighter than most which is good. Battery wont last long though (about 20 mins fully charged) so also not so good if you plan to use portable as you need to find sockets wherever you are! ...
Advantages: Easy to use, fast and good value for money. Disadvantages: The case isn't really hard wearing.
I've been using an AMILO for just over two years now, it being a christmas present. In the time that I have been using it, I have had few to no problems with it, and the only ones being asthetical, where the case has started falling apart due to transportation.
The features included in this laptop are very good - Wireless, Onboard LAN, a decent graphics chip for a laptop, and the overall size of the computer is good. It is not a large laptop, as I find that similar spec laptops are somewhat larger in depth than this one.
For the bad points, however, I can only point out that the shell starts to break after about a year, depending on how you treat it. I used to take it to college everyday, and I think that contributed. The screws have a tendacy to come out, if they are not properly secured, since mine has been taken apart to ...
