The problem seems to be with the Raid controller manufactured by Via Technology (but the Raid array doesn't seem to make any difference, so 0 or 1 is the same). This component is installed on the motherboard manufactured by Uniwill and fitted into Fujitsu-Siemens PC Notebooks such as the Amilo M1437G, Amilo M3438G, and Amilo M4438G. It is most noticeable when listening to MP3s or playing games. It doesn't seem to matter if there are one or two hard drives, what does seem to matter is the speed of the hard drive the revs (rpm) -- the faster the spin the less the lag (but the defect is still there)! Fujitsu-Siemens install hard drives from different manufacturers -- Seagate, Fujitsu, Samsung etc... but always the same Uniwill motherboard... Read review

Advantages: great speeds

...laptop looks really good, it's a combination of black and silvery white plastic body and this two tone colour makes it look really cool and modern. It features a Intel Pentium Dual Core T2080 / 1.73 Ghz processor which runs the 1gb of ram very well, and you'll be surprised at quite how fast this is, maybe its just how fujitsu makes their laptops, but this with only 1gb of ram seems a lot faster than some of the other brands of laptop iv come across which also had 1gb of ram installed. Another good thing about this is that the 1gb of ram can be upgraded to 2gb, however this is quite pricy and will usually cost over £50. However if you do need more ram and a quicker laptop all round then this might be something to think about. This laptop contains what seems to be the bear minimum of hard drive space these days. Advantages: Brilliant graphics, very classy looking laptop.
Disadvantages: Tiny bit heavy, but then I'm a weakling!

...I love my Amilo Pro V2085! Its sleek and classy - far superior to other lower priced laptops that I've seen. It has a widescreen and the graphics are excellent. I must admit that mine gets a lot of abuse, it gets used constantly by myself, my husband and my 9 year old son (and his friends!), but its withstood all the chucking around and still looks as brand new today as it did when I bought it last year. Software wise - it has all the usual stuff and inbuilt wireless connectivity, which I think is great because I used to have a USB dongle - which seemed to cut out every time I moved position or it heated up! I certainly don't have any problems like that now, it it on pretty much all the time and gets moved from room to room and never loses its connection.... Read review
