Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile V5505

This is a good example of a mid-range, mid-price lap top that will do what you need it to do, without over-spec-ing for the ordinary user, and costing more than you need to pay. I have had a couple of Fujitsus - one I was very happy with til some b***ard stole it, and a 17 inch one which was fab for about two years, then the hard drive just fell over and died. Hmm. I have owned 3 other laptops until now, and I can easily say that I have enough experience to compare this Esprimo with my other laptops. I am not too happy with this laptop. I must say it gets really hot and thats very important for me. I can say that it's sometimes too hot for my hands. I find the hard-disk and fan quite loud as well, when I turn my laptop off, I realize how loud it was and am suddenly happy that I turned it off. An excellent laptop, a good balance between memory and CPU speed for most users. Graphics adequate for most things, though not for high end games. 3.4 Vista Index due to graphics, however, all over ratings are around 4.5 -5.5. Highly recommended for general and business use. I use mine for web development and have had no problems at all. I often have many CPU intensive applications open at once and the performance has never waivered. My esprimo was a delight to use, until last week. For no reason, it did not boot up, it did not light up and there was not a flicker on the screen. I took it to my local PC expert, who kept it a week, said it was a fault on the main board. He then had the audacity to say the repair would be 200-300 pounds, his charge £20. I decided to get a second opinion, had it for 2 days, said it was dead, could not make a reason out for the failure, said smoke came out when he tested it,and charged me £30, for his expert service.
