Had this machine for around a month now, and found the machine to be a great starter machine, or "one for the kids". Whilst it can't be considered a games machine, it is great for surfing websites, playing games on websites and doing email. Have found that the pre-installed Windows Vista Home Basic to be exactly that - 'basic'.
This machine with its DVD writer and Atheros based Wireless miniPCI card make it an excellent machine to get to grips.
I have personally increased the RAM to 2GB, which was an easy process, as all the changeable hardware is conveniently under the covers on the underside and so changing the RAM, Hard disk or wireless card is very easy to do.
I also have installed a more upmarket Vista, and then the machine runs the new Aero interface with ease (after making the available RAM in the bios 256MB).
The machine runs Linux also, however in order to get Wireless to work, you must use 'ndiswrapper' until the nice guys at Madwifi add support for the this newest of Atheros cards.
Overall this is a great starter machine, but to make it usable increase the RAM to 2GB and install at better version of Vista from the Basic one or install Windows XP. Works great with both Fedora 8 and Kubuntu 7.10apart from the wireless issue above.
I would actually give this a 4.5 star rating based on its "bang per buck".
