Advantages: light, clear screen, fast battery charging, DVD writer, wireless Disadvantages: battery running time
...).
The machine runs Linux also, however in order to get Wireless to work, you must use 'ndiswrapper' until the nice guys at Madwifi add support for the this newest of Atheros cards.
Overall this is a great starter machine, but to make it usable increase the RAM to 2GB and install at better version of Vista from the Basic one or install Windows XP. Works great with both Fedora 8 and Kubuntu 7.10apart from the wireless issue above.
I would actually give this a 4.5 star rating based on its "bang per buck"....

Advantages: Quick laptop and not bulky for a 15.4" laptop 2Ghz Disadvantages: battery life rated at 3 hours. Graphics not for high end use
...An excellent laptop, a good balance between memory and CPU speed for most users. Graphics adequate for most things, though not for high end games. 3.4 Vista Index due to graphics, however, all over ratings are around 4.5 -5.5.
Highly recommended for general and business use. I use mine for web development and have had no problems at all. I often have many CPU intensive applications open at once and the performance has never waivered. I've just switched from a desktop and am still getting used to the keyboard, however, its a standard laptop one so no problems there. The USB ports are on the side which I find useful. Display screen is excellent and doesn't suffer from glare.
At the time of writing this was the best laptop for the money for general use on the market....

Advantages: Easy Typing Disadvantages: Buttons mAY STICK
...I AM WRITING A REVIEW ON MY KEYBOARD -
it is a Fujitsu Siemens Computers KBPC SX Keyboad.
It is a white keyboardf which has a matching Mouse - Its just like any regular keyboard however the buttons are more seperated which makes them alot easier to type with.
The keys are spaced out to make them more defined however, dirt may be able to get into these spaces alot easier then other keyboards which will lead to many problems in the future - such as keys sticking, and clogging up.
i have always been using a compaq keyboard for the past few years, and this year is the first time i have used this type of keyboard and i think its got a very different feel to others but its a good difference. its got a unique way of typing. its easier on your fingers as it lets you slide your fingers across the keyboard.

This is a good example of a mid-range, mid-price lap top that will do what you need it to do, without over-spec-ing for the ordinary user, and costing more than you need to pay.
