Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY Econel 130 S1 - Athlon 64 3800+

Advantages: Great performer when there are no issues.
Disadvantages: When there are screen or heating issues, Fujitsu wipe their hands clean of it

...The performance from this laptop is quite remarkable. Vista has also been installed and ran acceptably. Being an AMD procssor, these laptops double up as useful hand warmers on those cold days. Although the performance of these laptops are good, I have had doubts with the screen quality and the warranty system. The Hinges on these laptops are quite stiff and can actually lock when opening or closing the lid. The screen itself within the plastic surround has no horizontal reinforcement strips as seen on 99% of other screens. Fujitsu will not warranty this flaw in the design as I have found out. My solution was to purchase a new OEM screen which has the reinforcement strips and to regularly oul the hinges. ...Whilst recently updating Workstations on my LAN we recently have purchased several Fujitsu Scenic PC's. These machines have proven very reliable and efficient for the money that we have spent upon the units (£420.00 + VAT each) Considering that these machines are running PIII550 processors with 64Mb memory and a 10Gb hardrive as standard they can handle most basic office aapplications required in a general office enviroment. The unit comes with Windows 98SE pre-installed as standard, soundcard, keyboard and mouse. The only disadvantage that we have discovered with these machines is that they only have 3 x PCI slots and 1 x EISA slot making expandability a little probelamatic for certain hardware requirements, but overall for general value for money and reliability I would recommend this machine as excellent value for money... Advantages: small, easily upgraded with standard hardware
Disadvantages: should be dual proc

...I have the Econel 50 and unlike some of the more comon server platforms it offers quite a bit in terms of upgrade-ability. It is a little tight in there if you're adding more drives (3.5 &* 5.25) so I recommend keeping your cable management tight. It's a reliable build on the Intel Chipset and I've yet to see a BSOD! The Motherboard build is of expected server high quality and there is no sign of popping electrolytic capacitors around the CPU; there is ample cooling as the PSU doubles as the cooling (snug exhaust fit) over the large CPU heatsink. The installation tools that come on the setup CDs provide a pre-installation environment based upon a flavor of Linux and allows you to install Win 2K up to 2K3 Enterprise. Ideal for a budget server, not designed to be mission critical, would be great as a DUAL CPU or DUAL core as struggles... Read review
