The VXA-2 tape drive is the ideal storage solution, offering high capacity at a low price. The VXA-2 embodies the very highest reliability on the basis of an innovative read/write architecture, coupled with a very dependable, Internet-like package format that is designed for 100% data recovery. The OverScan Operation (OSO) technology, enabling data packages to be read regardless of the linearity or geometry of the data tracks, also contributes to the high reliability and economy of the VXA-2. The benefit for users: a new standard of performance in data recovery. The VXA-2 drive can record 160 GB on a single cartridge at a data transfer rate of 12 MB/second (given an average data compression ratio of 2: 1). In addition, the drive speed can be adapted to the data transfer rate of the host with VXA systems, eliminating the bothersome need to re-wind tapes and subsequently restart them when read errors occur. In addition, this also means that the reliability of media and drives can be improved and, at the same time, the time required for backup and restore tasks reduced.
