Fujitsu Siemens SCALEO Pa 1518 - Athlon 64 X2 3800+

Advantages: Brilliant easy to use and you do get the windows xp disk
Disadvantages: none really

...This Fujitsu computer was not that well know to us when we went looking for 2 computers. We had at the time tried to price up the components for a build and when we added the cost of Windows Xp x 2 it was a lot more, £300 more at the time, so we had to buy. The budget at the time was £1000 for 2 good computers with monitors,speakers,keybboard and mouse. Warranty would just be the normal 1 year unless we could get that included too. We had a look about and on the net but could not get the systems we were looking for. And with me fixing and being aware of the computer industry to a point we didn't want to go for a pc world own brand computer. We then got a call from someone we new in Comet who told us about these Brand new Fujitsu Scaleo 600 systems theat had to go because of a shop re-fit. They were at rock bottom prices... Read review

Advantages: Great performer when there are no issues.
Disadvantages: When there are screen or heating issues, Fujitsu wipe their hands clean of it

...The performance from this laptop is quite remarkable. Vista has also been installed and ran acceptably. Being an AMD procssor, these laptops double up as useful hand warmers on those cold days. Although the performance of these laptops are good, I have had doubts with the screen quality and the warranty system. The Hinges on these laptops are quite stiff and can actually lock when opening or closing the lid. The screen itself within the plastic surround has no horizontal reinforcement strips as seen on 99% of other screens. Fujitsu will not warranty this flaw in the design as I have found out. My solution was to purchase a new OEM screen which has the reinforcement strips and to regularly oul the hinges. It is very fast and reliable computer it great for home uses also its compatible with the new operating system windows vista. it has a big hard drive 232GB which can store a lot of pictures, videos, music, movies etc... the graphic card is made by a very popular company ATI. the processor is also made by a very popular company intel, this processor is very powerful one intel pentium 4 3.4 GHz. it has a lot of usb sockets two at the front and four at the back it also has a card reader that can read SD, MS, CF/MD, SM, and MMC which is very useful if you have a digital camera. this computer can read and write DVD's and CD's.
