The Scaleo arrived well packaged, there was little chance of it being damaged in transport. After I had unpacked I glanced through the quick-start guide. ... ...together and running in less than 15 mins, No problems.
The Base unit of the Scaleo T is smart affair for a standard case, the 'bloo' lights are a nice touch, BUT the case although a familiar size from the front is longer from front to back than most standard cases as a result it protrudes slightly from my desk, but i can live with that.
The Unit comes complete with DVD, and DVD +/- RW, these work well and come with ... more

The Scaleo arrived well packaged, there was little chance of it being damaged in transport. After I had unpacked I glanced through the quick-start guide. Everything was clear and easy to understand. The PC was together and running in less than 15 mins, No problems.
The Base unit of the Scaleo T is smart affair for a standard case, the 'bloo' lights are a nice touch, BUT the case although a familiar size from the front is longer from front to back than most standard cases as a result it protrudes slightly from my desk, but i can live with that.
The Unit comes complete with DVD, and DVD +/- RW, these work well and come with good bundled software (Nero 6)
The Card reader is a very handy feature and is compatible with all the comminly used formats, handy if you have a digital camera / phone that takes a memory card.
The PC performs quite well, and will run almost all everday software with ease. Games are a different story, the graphics card supplied with my Scale T is the Radeon 9600XT VIVO 256Mb version, This card was getting on a bit when i first got the unit and has been outdated already (it was already outdated at time of purchase). Although most games run fine, you have to turn detail settings down on most...
The amount of space on this Scaleo is excellent, 200Gb is enough for any home user, 8 months on still 40% free...
The sound hardware is more than acceptable, no issues with quality.
The front of the unit also has 2 x USB, 1 x Firewire, 1 x Audio out, 1 x audio out, these ports can be hidden behind a sliding front panel.
The unit is fairly quiet when running although it has it's moments. One of the features the unit is the ability to limit the speed of the processor so the fan can be run quieter. Wether or not you use this should depend on what you use your PC for. Office : Let it do it's thing, it'll run quieter + won't slow you down. Home : If you use it for internet / wordprocessing etc then leave it... If you plan on using your Scaleo for anything processor intensive (Games, Video/ music encoding/decoding) then disable this feature (through the easily accessible bios options) because it does 'severely' affect the speed of these applications.
For anyone thats into this kinda thing - Suse Linux is also running on the machine as a second O/S with no compatability issues.
All in all - I Would recommend this to most home users (with a better Graphics card than the 9600XT if to be used for games !).
Good all round performance Great looks Easily Upgradable
Advantages: Great speed - tons of memory! Disadvantages: None that I have found so far!
...OK, now the machine itself... Fujitsu Siemens seems to have gone for the works when designing this CPU! It comes with:
- the latest Intel Pentium 4 HT processor at 3.0GHz - 800MHz sidebus
- 1Mb cache
- 512Mb DDR RAM
- 160GB storage - surely that's more than enough for anyone!
- 128Mb ATIradeon X300 graphics
- 16-bit soundcard
- 56k modem
- Windows XP Home AND Microsoft Works 7.0
Obviously, this isn't top-of-the-range as standards keep changing, ... ...I bought this myself about 2 weeks ago for the excellent price of £589.99 from Comet - this also came with an Acer 15" TFT monitor, a keyboard, mouse, and speakers. Talk about value-for-money!
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great machine at an affordable price! ...
