I discovered this book after finishing my exams earlier than my friends a few years ago and needed something light to occupy my time before everyone else finished studying. It is the usual type of book i would go for but after spending hours sifting through text books i was looking for a page turner that required little input on my behalf. This book filled all expectations.

I discovered this book after finishing my exams earlier than my friends a few years ago and needed something light to occupy my time before everyone else finished studying. It is the usual type of book i would go for but after spending hours sifting through text books i was looking for a page turner that required little input on my behalf. It follows the plights of very liberal journalist Stevie. She wants to right about serious issues such as the mistreatment of flower pickers in mexico, which she is researching when we are first introduced to here. Unfortunately the only newspaper that she has she has access to is a tabloid, which would prefer publishing artlices about celebrities and their on again off again romances.
When stevie, in a world of her own, walks full pace into one of the worlds most famous movie stars at the airport, totally by accident, her life is changed. As she has a percieved connection with Louis Planetagent, the new star of the next big hollywood blockbuster, her editor sends her off to interview him. They form an odd attatchment to each other and romance ensues.
I read this book inthe library and laughed at loud many a time, gettin stern looks from the people actually doing work. The book has hilarious plots that are niether cliche, or expected. Stevie is not the typical heroin but is so well written and padded out she is easy to learn to love.
I have recommened this book to many of my friends all whom have enjoyed it equally. It is now a regular read of mine, easy to pick up and plow through in a few days and gives you the chance to emerce yourself in the fantasty of accosting your own celebrity in the airport which then leads to a beautiful romance.
Read this book you wont reget it. If you are looking for a light book which is easy to get into this is for you. If you are looking for some comedy and some brilliant dialouge between characters this is for you.
Advantages: A good bedtime read. Disadvantages: You won't want to put it down.
I have just finished reading Funny Valentine. I have to say it is much better than her previous book Honeymoon. The book is easy to get into, its not one where you have to get half way through it to get hooked.
The book is about Stevie who is trying desperately to get work as a journalist. She works for a newspaper, but they never like her articals, which are serious, and not about the latest in and outs of hollywood stars. She bumps into to Louis, ... ...She quite literally bumps into him (whilst having a daydream chat to herself, which she does a lot of). She is then asked to write a peice on Louis, which she doesn't want to do as its against everything she believes in. She screws up the interview, but must put it right.......she next interviews him in a wardobe!
After spending time with Louis she gets to liking him, although she won't admit it. But then he's going to marry a pregnant actress!!!!! ...

Advantages: Funny and exciting. Disadvantages: Predictable in some areas
...both of Amy Jenkins books, Funny Valentine being my favourite. In this book you follow Stevie, a very serious woman that is against chain stores and hates the idea of valentines day... until she falls in love.
She is the kind of woman that hates celebrities and being a journalist, always tries to print articles of a serious nature rather than the latest news on a celeb. She hates the fact they are always put ahead of the important issues she wants ... ...bumps into Louis, which leads to her wrestling with his security guard. To her surprise she finds out he is a celebrity that her magazine are going to interview, and ends up spending a week with him, and falling in love.
Watch as Stevie befriends Louis' mad fan, I would say this is one of the mose exciting chapters of the book. I love how unexpected the events are.
This is one of my top 5 books, once you start this book you will be unable to stop ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Funny Valentine - Amy Jenkins"
Advantages: an easy read Disadvantages: somewhat predictable in places
I am suprised by the rating given to this book as I thought it was a great read. I had never heard of AmyJenkins when I decided to read this book, but I had to buy her second - "FunnyValentine" once I had.
This book follows Honeymoon, a woman engaged to Ed even though she is not sure he is the one for her. One night spent with a stranger named Alex has become a story told by her friends, claiming him to be the "love of her life". Honey is unable to forget him and when he comes into her life again does not know who to choose.
One thing I like about this book is the layout. Honey narrates the story but at points there are emails sent to her which give us the other characters story from their point of view, and also their thoughts about Honey.
The book is sometimes unrealistic for example the way in which Honey meets up ...
