GAME GAMEware DS Lite Stylus Silver

Advantages: cheap fun games, inavative touch screen, fairly cheap
Disadvantages: lack of media capabilities, screen scratches after moderate use

...a great hand held... worse graphics then the psp but the use of the stylus and the games make up for it . the ds lite is also much brighter (which makes colors more vibrant) and smaller then the previous ds. i would recommend this to anyone shopping for kids or anyone that just enjoys some fun games on the go. one problem i found with the ds lite though is that the touch screen scratches after a while and that you might want to get some screen protectors for it. but otherwise it stays in pretty good shape after a couple months of use. also if you're upgrading from a gameboy advance you can play all your old games in the ds lite although the stick out a little bit .... Advantages: Touch screen, clamshell design, sleek and glossy appealing to the eye, suitable for any age
Disadvantages: Stylus pen quite small so easily lost, GBA games stick out when played

...console for a younger child, say age 5 - 10, then the DS Lite would be the one to choose. The console shuts like a clamshell and so the dual screen is protected when not in use, whereas a console such as the Sony PSP has a larger screen and is exposed all of the time. What I will say though is that the stylus pens that are used with the DS are very small and can easily be misplaced, and also the console has a very glossy exterior that could potentially slip out of your hands when carrying. Nonetheless, carry cases are widely available on the market to store your stylus pens and protect your console. This console is definately not restricted to the young age group though, adults most certainly do not look silly having one also!
