It took me a long time to succumb to the lure of the GHD's. I have had countless other hair straighteners, including some T3's, which were billed as being 'better than GHD's'... and they were very good... until they exploded. I have used budget straighteners, amazing looking glass plated straighteners (which were terrible!) and super hot 230 degree straighteners. All have either been rubbish, or broke.
Admitting defeat, I have recently bought a shiny new pair of GHD Mk 4 straighteners. I wish I hadn't waited so long!
These babies heat up in about 30 seconds, giving you a quick beep so you know they're hot, rather than having to watch out for a light. They get VERY hot, yet I have never burned myself on them, as every part which may come in contact with a hand, a finger or an ear stays very cool to touch. The salon length cable is very handy if you have a mirror far away from a plug socket.
Now the bit that matters, does it straighten well?
Bear in mind you will HAVE to use some form of heat protection on your hair, else it will frazzle, but it makes it amazingly poker straight if you do it correctly. By this I mean sectioning your hair, working small sections at a time, and slowly gliding the straighteners through the hair. So many people rush through this process, then complain that their hair won't stay straight! If you take your time and don't do too much at once, these GHD's will keep your hair straight all day, if not into the next day as well!
You can also use these irons to curl and flick your hair. Admittedly, I have not yet got the hang of this, but I am rubbish at curling my hair. I can't even do it well with tongs, let along straighteners, so don't let that put you off!
In my opinion, if you have been deliberating over which straighteners to buy, these are the real deal. They are expensive, but they are well worth it, as you will never have to experiment with other brands of stylers every again!
